Roaming charges are expensive in Thailand so get yourself a prepaid card in Thailand.

If you are referring to airtime. If you buy a prepaid sim card which you can add airtime to. It's about 3-8 baht per minute depending on the service. There are 3 major services AIS, DTAC and True. I have used DTAC and True in the past with no problems. Cost? About 200 baht, 50 baht set up fee for initial card, so you get 150 baht of airtime. You can buy additional time in 100 baht or 200 baht or 500 baht cards available at 7-11's or other stores in Thailand.

If you talking about buying a cell phone itself. I saw some off brands and used phones for 1200 to 1300 baht in MBK Center last week when I was there. Otherwise brand new, name brand phones cost 3500 to 8000 baht.

Good luck
