Because, although He is the heir to the throne of David, being a human king was not His purpose here on earth.

His purpose is to redeem mankind and provide a place for those who believe in heaven with Him, where He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

I think it took a long time for even the disciples to realize that the Lord being King was not for this earthly Kingdom but that He was the Heavenly King. He is here for the Heavenly rule of the Kingdom of the heavens to be on the earth. It was not an outward Kingdom either, but one that started as a Seed planted into the hearts of men, that would sprout and send roots deep down, then spread to in the good earth of men's heart, where God rules men inwardly. That through this inner ruling, God would be given the opportunity to usher in the Kingdom of the heavens ON the earth. That finally the Father's Kingdom will come and His will be done on earth as it is in the Heavens.

So why? Why did he depart again into a mountain to be alone. Why did He ultimately die rather than use His power as God to cast out the Roman Political rule and Be a literal King for the Israelites.

He was not there at that time to rule the jews outwardly. YES, Christ would eventually return and reign as King during the 1000 year Millenial Rule in the next age, but doing so at that time was not God's plan and timing. Christ first came to die as that seed.. as that Grain of wheat so that He could release the Kingdom Life into His believers. Only through death is a grain of wheat able to release its life to produce many grains.

Its interesting brother Don, that after death and resurrection Christ is the Firstborn among many brothers
Today, as the Church, we are this realm, its not something that man's hand can handle or even see with the naked eye but in the spiritual realm God IS developing His Kingdom. Its in my heart and your heart as the Good Earth ( Mark 4)

This is such a meaningful question that you posted.
But may we be like our Lord Jesus and not just be for the Physical things of this earth, but may we have eyes that see and ears that hear what the Spirit is saying to the church.

Lets keep growing more of Christ in our hearts. May He spread and rule in us. If He cannot rule in His own people, How can He have the means to rule the earth. Everything , even judgement first starts in the House of God among His people before He can impact upon the earth.

Because being an earthly king is not what He was about. Just like he refused Satan's temptation of having the whole world if He would worship him. Jesus was born on earth for one purpose only: to die for our sins. So of course he would avoid anything that would distract him from his goal. He knew, after the baptism and the coming upon him of the Holy Spirit--but also probably before that--what God wanted him to do. And that wasn't taking on political power and leading a rebellion against the Romans.

It doesn't say he "ran", just that he departed. On more than one occasion when the crowds were getting hyper "he passed among them" to get away. He wasn't afraid, he just knew he didn't have time for that.

He turned down kingship of all the kingdoms of the world also when Satan offered to give up rulership of them. Luke 4:5-8.

Not only was it not his time to be king (that was for the 1,000 years with not apart from his saints). Luke 22:28-30, Rev. 20:4-6. But as Luke shows above, Satan owns the kingdoms of the world and it requires doing acts of worship to Satan to take power.

Compare Daniel 2:44, Revelation 11:15, 18 (last part about those who are destroying the earth).

His Kingdom is not of this world.
The people at that time were looking to be freed from their oppressors (the Romans) and believed that if the Messiah had come, He would be a military leader just like so many of their previous judges had been.
This is a perfect example of how those people rejected their own Savior because He didn't "fit" what they thought He should be. They didn't even think that it would be God Himself in the flesh.
So it is even today- Jesus doesn't "fit" people's expectations, so they reject Him. They find and concoct all manner of so called reasons to not believe in Jesus.

its simple JESUS didn'tcome to earth to be a worldly king IN REVELATION CHAP 5 WE SEE HIM as the lamb slain before the foundation of the earth it means simply before this earth was created JESUS as GOD made apact with the father if man sinned He would be the one to have to come to this earth and redeem him.
since scripture states that through jesus everything that was created in the heavens and the earth was indeed by him for it was the fathers will that HE be the active agent of creation and that through HIM also all things are held together, WE READ THIS IN COLOSSIANS CHAP 1 LETS READ FROm verses 15 to 22 ,, that in JESUS ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD DWELLS ALL THINGS HAVE THEIR EXISTANCE IN him these texts confirm,, .. why would GODcome to earth then to act as a earthly ruler when his mission was tolive a life perfect so as to be the perfect sacrifice for sin and be able to reddem or bring mankind back to the original plan . to inhabit the earth as co regents with him .. but now even more so .. once we were made a little lower than the angels but when we fully are transported and are given new bodies we will be just above the angels. anyone else seen this?? mj

Because His purpose since the foundation is to be the 'Lamb of God'.

It wasn't time for Christ to rule as King yet. First the Gospel needs to be preached to all nations. Because Jesus is Savior of everyone who believes in Him. Everyone from all nations.

Gods Poetry written in the stars at Jesus conception & birth as King of Israel, & then His death on the cross. All written in the stars.

I watched 'The Star of Bethlehem / Unlock the Mystery of the World's Most Famous Star' on DVD yesterday. God already wrote it in the Heavens. http://www.bethlehemstar.net .

At His birth, a bright & glorious day. At His death an eclips & a blood moon.

Jesus departed again into a mountain, himself alone;
he left the company directly, upon this resolution of theirs, and even took not his disciples with him, who were in the same way of thinking about a temporal kingdom, as the people, and might encourage them in this undertaking: the mountain Christ went into, very probably was the same he went up to before; the reasons of his departure, were to prevent the attempt; to show that his kingdom was not of this world; to teach his followers to forsake the honours and riches of this world, for his sake; and to let them know, that those who sought only for a temporal redeemer, were unworthy of his presence: and also he went away alone, for the sake of secret retirement, and private prayer; and it may be chiefly, that he prayed that God would open the minds of these men, and particularly the disciples; that they might be convinced of their mistaken notions of him as a temporal prince.

Zec 9:9 - Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Jesus came not as a conquering King at that time....but as a humble and obediant sacrifice, a servant so that we may become as His perfect example...however there WILL come a time...when we can cast our Crowns at His beloved feet when He does come as that Conquering KING that He truly is! PTL!

It wasn't time yet to be the King.

Please allow me to open this up to you.

In Luke 4, Jesus read from a certain passage from Isaiah the prophet. This is what He read:

Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, 21 and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Those are verses we now know as Isaiah 61: 1 - 2.

This is what Isaiah 61 says to the point of where Jesus left off:

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,

2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor

This is the part that Jesus didn't say:

"and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,"
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah%2061;&version=31;

So the Day of Vengeance didn't come yet. That is what some refer to as a 'Gap Theory'. And I believe that is a correct Theory, so a fact.

The Jews were not interested in separating what we call verse 2. They just read right through those portions and believed that the Day of Vengeance would be a part of the preaching of the Good news.

You see, God had it coming for the Jews of the time. He had promised long ago that they wouldn't get it right, and He also said that the Gentiles would be a part of the light that Messiah would bring, essentially leaving the Jews as a nation to a punishment He had devised for all of those years of idolatry.

So God keeps His promises. We just have to pay attention to what He actually said.

Jesus went to the cross because he knew he had to pay our sin penalty. . No other “religious founder” was God become man (John 1:1,14) – the only way an infinite debt could be paid. Jesus had to be God so that He could pay our debt. Jesus had to be man so He could die. Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ! “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
