How old are you? The younger and healthier you are, the faster the recovery time. I had my tonsils out when I was 23, which is kind of old for that. It hurt like the dickens. I went home about an hour after I woke up from surgery.(My mother drove me home) It took me about two weeks (bedridden) to recover but about a month before I could eat foods that were more acidic like tomato sauce, orange juice etc.
It was the worst pain that I can ever remember but it was totally worth it. I used to get tonsillitis or strep practically once a month and now I hardly ever even get a sore throat. All my friends caught strep from each other recently including my roommate. They all had tonsils. I didn't and I didn't get sick. It was awesome! ...at least for me. Not them. Lol.

You will probably be in the hospital overnight. Recovery takes a week or two, but it will depend on how you take care of yourself. Eat healthy with warm soups, jello, popsicles, soft foods for a week.
Best of Luck

I had mine taken out when I was 12. I was in the hospital for a night. I couldn't talk for like a week, but I started getting my voice back during week 2. It really hurts and you don't want to eat anything because of the pain. But it was worth it in the end. Good luck!

It depends on how old you are........The younger you are, the faster and easier the recovery...........I had mine taken out when I was 29 and it was a LONG recovery, I was in the hospital for 8 days, but mine did bust back open and I had to go back to surgery because of the bleeding...........
good luck

Hospital- maybe overnight.
Then, you'll have a sore throat for a few days. In 3-4 days , you'll be saying 'that wasn't so bad!" Good luck!

A couple of days. And you'll get to eat ice cream!!
Rarely you'll be in the hospital overnight; most likely hours.
