I had a cat named Morgan (le Feyline) Emmeline. My new kitten is Mageia Samatha. (Mageia is Greek for magic. I call her Maggie.) I also had an Andromeda (who I called Ande). All of these names stem from my witchiness. Were your pet names or children names inspired by your faith?

A ferret named toothpaste? I always thought eggroll would be a very cute kitty name, but I could never actually bring myself to name one that.

Oh, c'mon, yogini... you could call him adho mukha shvanasana. or Adho for short. Of course, when he passes you would have to change his name to shavasana. (Sorry... I have no taste)

Thank you all for such wonderful and fun answers! There isn't really a way to pick the "best" because it's not as though you could be "right" or "wrong" on this, so I'm going to let it be decided by vote. Thanks for playing! :-)

No. I don't have any kids yet, but my daughter's name (should I ever have kids) is going to be Catherine Soleil-Levant (for those who don't know, it's pronounced So-lay leh-von. It means "sunrise" in French). The Catherine is a family name that's been passed down for MANY generations, and the Soleil-Levant is after a Monet painting.

I once had a black cat named Thor (he was so cute!), and an orange tabby named Tiger. My first cat was a calico, and I named her Brat. Then I had a cat named Misty (I had to leave her in Washington State when I moved to Oklahoma)...then...hmm...there was Slim and BB. BB was hit by a car (I STILL blame my ex's mom for that; no kitten that small should have been allowed outside)...and I had to leave Slim behind when I broke up with my ex. A few days after that, his mom took all the cats that were "mine" to the pound. Nice lady. So now I have Baby and Baby Kitty, whom I never named. If I had, I wouldn't have named them Baby and Baby Kitty. Sigh. But by the time I got them, they were already almost two years old, so those are the only names they answer to.

Oh, and I'm a Christian, though I was an eclectic witch when I had Thor.

Your cats' names are adorable. Especially Andromeda. That's just cute.

No. My children are Amanda (that means the most beloved one), Jackie (short for Jackeline), Carolina (south-american name) and Liam (Irish, because my husband is Irish).

I had a dog and his name was Romeo, but he is gone... My next dog will be Frodo, because I love Lord of the Rings... So, not really.

Peace!

If I had a child, I would most likely go for a Hebrew name. but I've also loved Gaelic names. I intermingle between the two on and off. but I don't feel that my decision would be based on faith. Only that I like that name.

Not pets, so much. I admit, though, I did have a cat named Grendal.

My three children have traditional Norse names, reflecting both their ancestral heritage and the spiritual heritage their mother and I have made accessible to them, if they wish to explore that tradition.

No. My children are named after family members whom deserve honor, while when I name pets they get a song title.

Nope. I named my fish Doc Holiday and my dogs name is Mutley (she's inherited). It would be kind of weird naming a pet after a yoga pose. And eggnog, well you see where we end up with that one. yognogini?

THAT is HILARIOUS! You made me laugh out loud twice in a half hour:) Than you!

My children do have biblical first names and family middle names but not my pets. I had two cats, one was Tom and the other Jerry, now we have a different cat and her name is Sweetie.
