Of course they would. Human breast milk is HUMAN - not an animal product. It is completely, 100% natural to feed human milk to a human baby. Jeesh.

Yes vegans can still breastfeed their babies. I think you may have missed the point of a vegan diet. Firstly those vegans who are vegan for health reasons do not dispute that breast milk is the best most nutritious food you can give a baby and secondly those who are vegan for ethical reasons will fully understand that no animals were harmed in the production of this resource

Yes. My daughter is vegan (she's nine now) and was breastfed for over 3 yrs., so yes, she had animal products from her mother, if you want to call a human an animal.
Breastfeeding is great! It is convenient, cheap, easy, and much better for the baby. And, it calms the baby and the mother.
My daughter never had ear infections and was never sick. Only once, when her toe got hurt. No constant runny noses and ear infections like the other kids.
I highly recommend the vegan diet and breastfeeding for kids. Dr. Spock recommended it also in his last book. Just make sure to get b-12.

there are no commercial soy infant formulas on the U.S. market that are 100% vegan. They all contain Vitamin D derived from an animal. And cow's milk formulas are out for obvious reasons. What does that leave you with? Not much choice. If you want your baby to be vegan, you've got to breastfeed or find a milk bank that has collected and stored milk from a vegan mom (difficult at best).
Getting Your Vitamins
While you're breastfeeding it is extremely important to make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need in your own diet. Your baby is counting on you to provide her with all the nutrients she needs to grow at a healthy rate. While getting a well balanced diet and sufficient vitamin intake is of extreme importance while breastfeeding, the following two vitamins are of particular concern to vegan women. Be absolutely sure you are getting enough of these:
* Vitamin B12 - Babies are born with zero to little stores of this important vitamin. B12 will pass through your breastmilk in sufficient quantities ONLY if you're getting plenty in your own diet. If you are not 100% sure you're getting enough yourself, consider giving your infant a liquid B12 supplement from the time she is 2 weeks old until you stop breastfeeding.
* Vitamin D - Get out into the sunshine! If you can't get 10-15 minutes per day of sunshine, or 20-30 minutes two to three times per week, then you must be sure to get enough Vitamin D in your diet. Good sources of this vitamin are found in fortified non-dairy beverages. Let your baby's skin get some sunshine too, but be very careful not to expose your infant to too much sunlight because of the damaging effects of ultraviolet light. If you live in colder climates and aren't sure you're getting enough Vitamin D, you can supplement. Find Vitamin D2 because that is plant derived. Vitamin D3 is from an animal source.

Formula is generally made from egg powder and oil. However, there are soy-based baby formula products on the market that a vegan may use. I don't know that they are 100% free of animal products, but I'm sure you could find out.

Yes we do breastfeed our babies. I guess since those who do breastfeed that we have decided that it is our own suffering (at least our own breasts are suffering) and that it is OK.
Especially if you are vegan for health reasons. Breast milk is the best thing for the baby/newborn's health.

Veganism seeks to eliminate animal exploitation. Human mothers are not being exploited - they are feeding their infants exactly as Nature intended. Vegans, on the whole, are in favor of breastfeeding.

Yes. Breast milk is meant for babies, and the mother can choose whether or not she wants to breastfeed. While cow's milk is meant for cows, and the cows are forced into terrible conditions against their will.

Yes, but the women are much better at it than the men.
They have a problem with using milk from other species, not human milk.
That's a pretty old question, but I haven't heard it for a while.
