Just because religious folks find homosexuality uncomfortable doesn't make it wrong. Just because people misinterpret the Bible and the so-called words of God to their own ends, for their own conservative agendas, to make homosexuality seem anathema, doesn't make it wrong.
The "hardware" of the human body isn't important, what dwells within our mortal shell is far more so.
Love people for WHO they are, not what sexual orientation they happen to be. Who you are is more important than what gender you enjoy having sex with.

luvdalz68: Keep in mind how long the Bible has been around. I have no reason to trust that the Bible is the "true" word of God, and therefore no reason whatsoever to trust the many colorful interpretations of scripture by those would see their agendas become the unwritten laws that are the foundation of prejudice and hatred. You shouldn't need to look up what's right and wrong in a quaint little manual, it should be something you know in your heart. I know in my heart that it isn't wrong for people to love one another, the fact that some people may be of the same gender is as meaningless as people loving each other who happen to have different skin color or missing teeth or other discrepancies in the human condition.
q_hi_no: Yes I have read the Bible, and the parts of the scripture which describe, for example, the act of lying with another man on the field of battle (sodomizing the victim's corpse) as sin, have been ludicrously applied to homosexuality in general.

((( Endora ))) Truth!!
People, the Bible is a book. It is a collection of words, bound and maintained by human beings. Like any other book, with age and wear it crumbles to dust. Like every other book, it will do you no good when you're dead.
What God would decree for all eternity a people's rules of existence in a book, which can so easily be modified by whomever happens to hold the power to do so? Does this make sense? It makes no sense to me.
You may've heard the phrase that in war, the victors write the history books. What about the Bible? Do you think that maybe in all the wars in ancient times, someone who was victorious happened to also be someone who thought homosexuality was wrong? Maybe they decided to conveniently omit portions of the Bible that says ALL people may enjoy eternal life in the kingdom of heaven, not just those who are straight.
I can't say for sure, and really no one can, but that alone trashes the BIble as a credible source in my book (heh).

q_hi_no: Check out this link:
http://www.swapmeetdave.com/Bible/BibleType.htm
This is a list of different versions of the Bible and different translations. Maybe I should've emphasized that I think the Bible is unreliable as a source of the "true" word of God.
Look at the site author's description of the "Free Translation" style, used by 10 versions of the Bible listed there:
"Free translation (paraphrase). Translates the ideas from the original text but without being constrained by the original words or language. Seeks to eliminate historical distance. Readable, but not always exact because interpretation depends upon the translators."
This is just talking about differences that come through the translation process alone, it doesn't even touch what I'm hinting at above about people who may indeed have edited history, edited the truth to their own ends.

Loves the Ponies: "According to the Bible..." is part of the problem. Doesn't it seem wrong to judge people according to what's written in a human-maintained book? That's like reading a manual and saying, "Oh, you're gay? Ok, sorry, you're not getting into heaven, you're just outta luck, see you when you've conformed to what's written in the book, buh-bye!" Forget the Bible for a minute, what do you THINK? Do you THINK that it's righteous to discriminate against people who are gay?

q_hi_no: Each person's definitions of right and wrong may differ, sure, but bottom line, the fact that discrimination against people who enjoy same sex carnal pleasures has become accepted practice for many religions based on the Bible is repugnant.
If this type of discrimination doesn't seem wrong, maybe explore the impact it's had on people who are gay who have experienced the bitter taste of discrimination from their supposed church "communities". This includes those who've killed themselves because somehow they feel something is wrong with them, families who have essentially excommunicated their sons and daughters from their families and maintained minimal if any contact with them because they either pity them or outright hate them for their being gay.
Regardless of what the authoritative, absolutely true source of God's word is, these kinds of actions where love is withheld from loved ones in the name of God because of their sexual orientation is wrong.

You should always love one another and treat each person the way you would want to be treated.

too bad that the comment to love one of another is a command of brotherly love...there are 3 general types of love in the bible... love between husband and wife, friend(brother) to friend(brother), and father to child...and have you read the bible? you seem to be making claims that are you taking the Word of God to your own ends for your own agenda to make homosexuality seem good.
If the hardware isn't important? why are the physical features and abilities so distince between the genders. Why not make everyone the same?
Why not allow men to get pregnant from men and women from women?
Love everyone yes...but as a brother would a brother...love is not fair...its just...they are different. and just because you have a love for a person does not mean you have to accept their behaviors...it is compltley possible to fight ones beliefs but still love the other.
ADD:
There are other examples...but its obvious you aren't willing to acknowledge them for what they are...you have to interpret things to say they aren't about homosexuality but by taking it at face value it is against it...so how are we taking things the wrong way?
ADD2:
your whole argument about the bible can't be true ruins your whole arugument because your argument is people are interpretation the bible wrong...if you say the bible is invalid there is nothing to be interpretating wrong...and anyways, how many wars have happened since the bible was written? alot right...too bad the bible is still the same...pick up a copy of a bible from the civil war...it will read the same as it does now...
ADD3: Then how do you know what God wants you to do...im sure you love this verse.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
seems pretty clear the way that God feels about the bible.
Also, do you understand what the free translation is...its written at a lower level (grade wise) like a sixth grade level and is meant as a paraphrase to help people who aren't strong readers still get the word of God. I know of no scholars or professors or pastors who chose to use that version of the word to base biblical doctrine off of.
ADD4: if you rule the bible out of the picture this whole debate is completely pointless.. who are we to ask what do we think as if what we think matters at all... you are indirectly debating relativism which even at the common sense level is ridiculous. If you rule the bible out of this conversation there is nothing ot base the standards of right and wrong off of except for ourselves...which is different for each person. Each persons truth can't be right, so we find a source to base truth off of, the bible.

According to the Bible, homosexuality is wrong, and so is drunkenness and gluttony and a bunch of other stuff. There is no way to misinterpret that. There is no misinterpreting "Judge not, lest ye be judged." either.
We are all sinners and God sees sin as sin. Mankind likes to put one sin below another and so on, so that lying to your mom is better than homosexuality. But that is simply not the case. Sin is sin.
Christians are supposed to love the sinner and hate the sin, but even Christians are sinners and therefore, their thoughts and actions are not perfect. Christians have the same problems as non-Christians and are tempted just like non-Christians.
I love people who are gay, alcoholics, drug users, liars, cheaters, and murderers. I do not condone or approve of what they do, but I love them and hate the sin.

Because homosexuality is rebellion against God, and that's not "love". You can deny it all you want, but the Bible is quite clear and not hazy at all, homosexuality is just as much an abomination to God as bestiality. God did not design the human body for such abuse. And yes, it DOES make it wrong. There's no such thing as "moral relativism". What your Creator says, goes. He is the potter, you are the pot. You have no right to speak against Him who created you. You have fallen prey to the lies of Satan. Don't be fooled.

Salvation has to do with taking the name of YHVH, and following His rules. It is a marriage contract, and if you do not participate, then there is no way He can save you. His rules include many things. The book of Jacob (for some reason many people call him "James") tells us that any transgression breaks the Law of YHVH.

Justifying sin and trying to make up lies to cover what the bible really says about homosexuality is not going to clear anyone from the punishment they face on judgment day.
Believing you are sinless is insane and very dangerous for the future of your soul.

The MOST important thing is to accept Jesus Christ as you Lord and Savior.
Other wise you can be the nicest guy anyone ever met but will still be held accountable for each and every sin you commit.
And yes, you will and do commit sins, everyone does.
