It'll be like 60 ppl, unless I shrink my guest list. (Which I'll probably have to do.) I was thinking just food, christmas music, and chatting. Does this sound boring? I can't think of anything else to do. Maybe a gag gift thing? How do I go about that? Thanks!

Well, that's a good idea. But, the problem is some of the adults will be bringing their family's... and then every person in the family would have to get a gift... Plus adults and kids don't like the same gifts. lol. Hm... idk how to go about this. Help!

how about a gift exchange? Everyone brings a gift, and label the gifts 1 through 60. Everyone picks a number out of a hat, and gets a gift! Make sure to put a limit on the amount people spend, and that the gift is unisex. Have fun!

I'd shrink your list a bit, since guests will invariably bring others with them. Here are some other ideas that you might find helpful:

1. Keep your menu reasonable and easy to manage.
2. Put another family member in charge of music and keeping it moving during the evening. This means making sure that folks eyes are not getting glazed over because they want something livelier and are getting Perry Como's Christmas hits!
3. Have each "family" bring a white elephant gift. One game you can play is to match the numbers of gifts with the numbers of participants so that folks who don't, or can't, play won't feel bad. Then have each person that's playing take a number and that's the turn they have getting a gift. When its their turn they can choose any gift they want, including one that's already been selected. The person who "loses" the gift can then retrieve another gift or pick one that has already been chosen as well.
4. Pass out sheet music with the words to Christmas Carols and have a singalong. This might also make it into the neighborhood if your guests are so inclined.
5. If you have snow, go sledding or stage a snowball fight.
6. Have a film night, using a projector of sorts to show a movie on a wall or white sheet. It's A Wonderful Life is a Christmas Classic along with Rudolph, A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation etc.
7. Create "stone soup" wherein every family brings one ingrediant to put in a soup you will be serving for dinner.
8. Host a "food drive" where in every family contributes a gift for a child, or canned goods etc. to be taken to your local food bank and shelter. Tis the season, right?
9. Have fun at your party and don't work all night to make sure your guests are enjoying themselves.

Happy Holidays!

Christmas parties are a blast! Start with your guest list. 60 is huge. You may want to tone it down to under 25. Have a radio or a television in every room of your house. Play Christmas music (different genders on each radio) and have different holiday classics on the tv's. Example would be Chevy Chase, Miracle on 34th St, Grinch, etc. Also, we just had a party and someone brought the Wii console. Let me tell you, that was the best thing ever!!! All the adults took turns at it, and it was a huge hit. As for food, we just served chips/pretzels/mints/you get the idea. Several bowls spread thru-out the house. Whatever you decide, getting together with friends/family is going to be fun! Don't sweat it!

This is a game called Yankee Swap. Everyone brings a cheap gift wrapped up maximum of 5 dollars. Put all the gifts in the middle of a table. Everyone gets a number. If you are number 5 you are the fifth person to choose a gift. If you don't want the gift you unwrapped you can trade with someone that already opened a gift. If you are number 1 you get to choose that fist gift to open but at the end of the game you get to trade your gift with any of the other gifts.

It is a really fun game. I play it with my family every Christmas and Thanksgiving.

P.S. You should get a couple extra gifts just in case someone forgot their gift or you miss counted the number of guests. Have Fun. =]

skip the gift exchange, too many people. I'd leave your invite to be a open house type event so people can come whenever they want, put on your invites from 6:00 - 12:00 open house holiday party, come and go as you please! plus if you leave it a open house event for longer hours people will be more likely to stop for awhile if they have another engagement that night. music, chatting, food and drinks are the best mix for a great party! maybe have some type of toys or gift bags for the kids attending to keep them busy. you can burn holiday CDs for all your guests as party favors, make covers with a picture of your family on there and say on it Happy holidays from the Anderson's! (or whatever your name is!) they can listen to the music on their way home!

with that many people you might not want drinking, legal and financial to start not to mention damage.

about the gift idea thats great, set a price, all gifts are non-gender. when a name is drawn they grab a gift , either one thats not open or one that someone else has already opened. it make for a good time
