Read below, and then, answer: WHAT DID YOU DO TO IMPROVE YOUR PERSONAL PRAYER LIFE??

There are times...when.... I pray with at least one other believer, my prayers feel so strong and "on target" [in alignment] with God's will. But... when I pray alone, there are times I struggle with the words. The prayers seem to become more selfish, and the more I attempt to re-focus and pray for others, I suddenly remember something else in my life that I [think I] need. It's almost ridiculous.

Any ideas? Sarcasm not welcome. Thanks and God bless.

Wow, Peter. Well put!!!!!!

Although I don't usually respond to sarcasm,
Fallon, I pray this very moment that you find the peace and love of God. I pray that He reveals Himself mightily to you, and that your heart becomes softened, and you develop true humility and honesty. Amen.

The Bible says that where ever two or three are gathered in Jesus name, there he is in the midst.

From an analitical perspective, maybe when you pray with other people you don't want them to think that you're selfish. You put others first with them there. You seem to know that you don't want to be selfish in prayer. When you get togther with someone else, God gives you the power not to be so selfish.

Here's something in my email that reminded me of you:

1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes Teachers, Doctors, Priests, Rabbis and Ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for world leaders, the President, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

Above all, ask God to help you with your priorities in prayer. If you feel they arent right, ask God ernestly, he'll come though.

FYI--sometimes i have the same problem. you're not the only one. Just spend make sure you spend extra time in prayer to make sure you cover all your bases.

When I pray alone I try and start by thanking God for all of the blessings he provides daily. I focus first on what he has done for me. We always feel more confident when we are with others, but I try and remember that God is our father and as such I pray like that. He is truly our closest and dearest friend. There is no one who knows more about us than he does. After I give him thanks, then I pray for others, and lastly I pray that he will touch all things in my life so that his will be done.

Everyone is different, as you can see by the many different responses you have gotten. Just remember, he hears you no matter where you are or who you are with. God hears your prayers.

I sit in a quite part of my garden and try to connect, sometimes I am successful other times I am not, however, it does not stop me from seeing all the wondrous things around me that he created. As for Fallon, what a sad empty person you are, no one can make you believe but I assure you, that will change in the moments just before your death, ask any serviceman who has been in combat if he believes, I know what the answer is, I have been there. There are no unbelievers on a battlefield, regardless of whose side you are on.

I not only pray, i meditate (listen for gods message)
Meditation is the art of stilling ones mind from troubles and distractions, so that you can hear what is the answer.

My prayer life was at its strongest when i was attending college. My comute to campus was 40 miles and all i had was a motorcycle. 40 miles, no radio, lots of time to chat with god. I often got to campus not realizing i had been riding on auto pilot!

God's Word tells us that "when two or more are gathered in My name, there I will be also." That's why you feel confident when you pray with others - because God does hear.

When we pray alone, we have less "power," even though He still hears us.

Keep forging on, dear one, He knows your struggle!

God bless!

Prayer is you talking to God...Ask forgiveness, Praise God, ask for blessings, protection, salvation of family and friends; then ask God to bless you with a purpose, ask for help in seeing His will for your life and then thank him for answering your prayers for your best interest...remember He is God, humble yourself, when you enter the throne room...yours in Christ Blue316

Asking God to sparkling up your money owed is almost an adolescent praying for a sparkling motorbike. Take accountability to your money owed and manage them your self, it incredibly is extra of a Christian reaction!

for me, my prayers are "conversations" with God. I come to Him with "thanksgiving" and "praise" then I just talk. He may be our Father, our Creator and our Savior, but He's also our Friend.
Just talk...

God Bless
