Yes, I did recover.
It's true what they say about time.
I will always love the "love of my life," whom I met when I was 19 years old. I could almost write a book about it. It broke my heart to do so, but I did finally move on with my life.
Then when I did get married, I understood the true meaning of a broken heart. It was quite intense. Quite painful. Another story in itself. But that's when I realized there's one person who will never leave me. And that's God. He's my strength now in my journey called life.

How's your own broken heart?
God bless you.

I think there will always be a tender spot for the person that breaks anyone heart. I still have my days when it affects me more than others. But it will get easier. And it takes each person a different amount of time to get over a broken heart. It's not something you can put a time limit on. You have to make up your mind to move on. That's the beginning. Then all you have to do is keep going forward and not backwards.

This is under heart disease so I am not sure if you mean true heart pain or from a broken relationship. Both can be healed with proper treatment and time.
