OK..........so I know vegans like to use products that are not tested on animals, but I'm curious as to what happens like when you go to a public restroom? How do you wash your hands? Do you always bring along your own animal friendly hand soap? I'm just curious, I'm not making fun or trying to give anybody a hard time. I have been vegetarian for the past 14 years and am really thinking about going vegan, so I was just wondering what one would do in this type of circumstance. Thank you guys alot for your answers!

So are we to assume then that any soap found in a public restroom (yes I know it's not bar soap, it's the liquid stuff) was not tested on animals?

i dated a vegan and he just used the hand soap in the bathroom, but he wouldnt buy products with honey because it was "explotation of honey bees". I definantly get your question.

Edit. To Dump. I understand where you are comming from, but to say "worthless Dolphins", im offended by that. Im not a vegitarian but I support the protection of dolphins. I hope you just thought of some random animal and typed it and not actually mean that.

Well, I'm not technically vegan, but I am very strict about what I use and soap in a public bathroom is not acceptable to me. I carry a small bottle of Dr. Bronner's soap in my purse. If I don't have my soap I just rinse well with water and try and use paper towels to open doors and turn the water on and off.

I'm vegan, and I use the soap in the restroom. But I buy only vegan soaps for personal use.

I just rinse my hands in water.

My parts are far more clean than anything I'll encounter OUTSIDE the restroom. If worse came to worse, you could always carry some cruelty-free hand sanitizer.

Congrats on choosing vegan! I've been one my whole life and wouldn't have it any other way!

Nobody carries their own soap around. If they do they should stop. Using soap in a public restroom in no way contributes to the suffering of any animal.

I just use whatever soap is there. I figure if I wash my hand with non-vegan soap at someone else's place it's canceled out by the number of times they wash their hands at mine.

Chihuahua Babe- Dove certainly contains cattle and likely contains other animals, possibly even dogs and cats put down at animal shelters. Look for Stearic Acid and Sodium Tallowate.

Damn.

I'm an omnivore and I exclusively use Nag Champa soaps, or Mysore Sanadalwood soap. They have a lot of nice smells for any preference, and they are all vegetable based (ironically) *O*

Incidentially, I just like the lovely scents.

I know of no public restroom this side of 1970 that has bars of soap. They have entirely synthetic chemical detergents with antimicrobial agents in them etc. I think time has rendered the point raised by your question moot. it only applies to home use, where many people have bar soap.

I know a vegan girl and I don't think she brings soap with her.....
Then again I've never been in the bathroom with her so I don't know for sure.

You could use Purell hand sanitizer. I carry one with me all the time. It's not tested on animals and it's a great substitute when you can't wash your hands.
