What your talking about is the Mayan prediction that the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012.
The Mayans were fascinated with time -- stunningly more so than we are as a culture today. The way they tracked time involved three interlocking calendars!
We aren't even entirely sure they called for the world to end in December of 2012, but they did abruptly stop all lunar, planet, comet, etc. tracking at that time.
Cultures tend to go through Armageddon "phases" like clockwork (sorry about the pun). It happens about every 110-120 years.
Calm down some. We are most likely going to experience some significant change over the next two decades (global politics, the environment, cultural, etc.), but we'll still be around after that.

No, the world will not end by 2012. That year was picked to be the end of the world by the Mayas on their calendar called the Long Count. They thought that by 2012 the world would end. Basically the Long Count is a cycle, where Mayas believed that the world would end, and start all over again. It's basically not scientifically possible, so no need for panicking.

how could anyone know if the world is really gonna end in 2012, people have predicted that the world was gonna end almost every year that I've been alive, and we're all still here, plus if the world "ends" in 2012 then that just means that Jesus is coming to save us, and if you're a true believer in Christ then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. But like I said, there is no way for anyone to nkow 100% for sure!

No real need to panic! Remember y2k? That year everyone went crazy thinking the very same thing, but realisticly what happened? nothing really! I personaly think its the governments way of making some quick cash on suckers like us. do you think any of us really know when the world is going to end? I personaly don't, I would like to think the world would never end, but i am also not nieve enough to think that our stupid ways could in fact destroy the world. hey you know whats an even cooler thought? what if scientist and governments have already found another planet that we can live on, but they are keeping it reserved for when they think the world is going to end for real? man that would rock! anyways seriously though, if you want to panic about dying and your life ending you should think about everyday life! thats more dangerouse then the future..

Hm, it could come earlier than 2012, who knows? The reality is that only Christ the King knows when the end is coming and anyone else, including Tim Lahaye, that says they know the exact time and day don't' have a clue. So don't fret about this anymore and get to work on your assignments for tomorrow.

Don't worry. They predicted this would happen in the past, and it never did. So we won't die in 2012.
Based on facts, the nearest "end of the world" will be do to global warming, which isn't even planned in the next several generations.

There are always doomsingers, they have been predicting the end of world for hundreds of years, but the sun comes up every morning and sets every evening, as it has always done. It didn't end in 2000, or 2001,in spite of all the people who were sure it would. And think of this......every day, the world ends for millions of people, who die, and every day, the world begins for millions of babies, who are born. Life will go on. No fear.

what makes you think the world will end 2012? Its just a bunch of paranoid people spreading rumors about nothing. I'm not ready to die yet, either, and I for one am going to live to a good old age. :)

You forgot that this was the year the Mayans predicted the endof the world.
Relax. You'll go through a "The World is Ending" scare every 5 years or so.
I lived through a dozen of these.

No. You know they said the end of the world would be on June 6th, 2006 (6-6-06). But we're still here, right? Nope, we're fine, but if you really are concerned, try doing your part in keeping a healthier planet.
