I have done a project on animal testing and find it a brutal, cruel, and useless practice. The animals cannot communicate what they are feeling to the tester, and if they could they wouldn't have been tested on in the first place. Animals feel emotions, pain, and fear. They know when something bad is happening, and recognize the people who have hurt them. Humans ARE considered animals. The only difference is that humans can communicate with each other while the others can't, they are taken from their homes and tortured. Animals deserve some rights.
We can cure mice of any kind of cancer, have been able to for ten years now. Why can't we cure all people then? Mice are genetically different. It's that simple.
While some testing can save humans, who is to say who's life is more valuable? Who is to say that humans are top priority? That's right, the humans do. The animals don't get a say in the torture that is done to them. In the case of the Silver Spring Monkeys they had their left eyeball removed and a clamp placed over a vein to induce a seizure. They were testing anti seizure medication, none of which worked on the primates while many were useful in humans.
I do believe that you can eat animals, although I choose not to. I know not all hunters are the evil unloving people PETA portrays them to be, my dad and best friend hunt and are both huge animal lovers.

I do support animal rights and think torturing any living creature is wrong. I recommend you read "Dominion : The Power of Men, the Suffering of Animals, and the Call to Mercy" by Matthew Scully. He describes it as a moral inquiry into the treatment of animals. Very disturbing and very thought provoking book and changed the way I regard a lot of things, including the way I eat, the companies I patronize and the products I buy.

Animals breathe. So do humans. I think animals should all have rights. It makes me mad when people think animal rights pertain only to cats and dogs. Coincidentally, I had an argument with a classmate about that today! I fully support animal rights, but I do agree that PETA goes WAY too far.

i found the link on saosin's myspace page. now i've decided to go veg.
and, you don't have to test make up on animals. there are natural alternatives. its vain and wrong.
sometimes with drugs there's no alternative. i guess its not a bad thing if it helps humans, but its a fine line between torture and saving lives.
animal cruelty is one of the worst things you can do. your hurting an innocent life that can't defend itself. volunteering at shelters, i've seen some pretty awful things. people can be so cruel.

yea, I still eat meat, but I don't wear fur or leather or anything and I don't like the idea of people testing on them. And the animals that are killed for food, I believe should be killed in the most humane way possible and sholudn't be all squished and stuff with chickens fur to fur and stuff like that. They should have humane enviroments also.

well, i eat a lot of meat, and i come from a hunting family, BUT there are instances where i stay away from establishments, or sources of meat because of the way their animals are treated. i will not eat, Kosher, veal, or KFC. i dont believe the way the animals have to suffer, for food, is necessary. your always going to have the arguement about meateaters vs vegetarians, but in the end, we are all free on our views, and what our diets consist of. if your gonna eat an animal, make sure it had a nice clean, quick death. animals dont need to suffer inhumane conditions, or bleed to death, to be put on your plate. (thats pretty much why i prefer hunted meat. my family has been hunting for more then 30 years, and always make sure the animals dont suffer. and we use pretty much everything and dont let n e thing go to waste)
but in instances of animal cruelty, i dont think the laws are strict enough. we actually have a cruel person, on the news, not captured, that has in at least 3 counties abducted peoples animals, mulitated them, skinned and beat them, and shot them, leaving the carcases on the sides of the road. and if that person gets caught, the max is like maybe 5-6 years in jail MAYBE! and i think thats horrible. people do get away too much when it comes to how they treat their animals. and i think the state of PA is idiotic for making pets, in legal terms, (property). if someone hurt your animal, you can sue for the "value" of the animal nothing else, n nothing over emotional issues. i think the whole country needs to re look this problem as a whole.
as far as animal testing, it makes me want to vomit, BUT it does bring up the question, if you dont test on animals, DO we test on ppl? how do we know if these medicines will not kill instead of help? thats a tricky question bc its easy to say its wrong, but what are our alternatives. A LOT of it I'm sure is unnecessary, but what about medical aspects, transplant aspects, and so forth? IF your "aunt" lets say volentered for such an experiment, where they decided they didnt do it on animals first, and she died from such experiment, how would that make you feel? AND LET ME STATE AGAIN IT DOES MAKE ME SICK. i just understand in very few, miniscule, instances, its a necessary evil. (although, testing on death row inmates, does sound very good to me as an alternative!)....

Humans take priority over all other animals. much human death and suffering can be eliminated by testing certain things on variuos animals. Anyone who opposes animal teting that can save human lives and suffering shouled be in prison. Ingrid Newkirk of peTA siad in an interview that she opposes animal testing, even if it finds a cure for AIDs. She is a psychopatic monster. I'd love to take her in a time machine to King Edward Longshanks. he knew how to deal with such people.

yes, torturing animals is wrong, its like torturing a humans, theyre living beings!
when u go to do something to an animal like torturing/abusing them just ask urself "would i do this to myself, would i do this to another human?"
if someone said yes to torture/abuse then they got some serious problems
when killing for food, it should be fast and painless, i understand its called "murdering" by some ppl, theres ppl who eat meat ne way...i seen the video that Fall Out! put a link to, it really makes u stop and think, bcuz ppl do tortutre them...its very very wrong. it makes me mad bcuz ppl need food to survive, and some ppl like meat a lot, but u dont have to torture them!! these ppl need to atleast do it humanely, it sickens me how ppl think that thats the only way to kill them or that "theyre just animals"
animals have feelings just like we do...why would u want to hurt them??
if u want to hurt them then why get one?
ppl who neglect their pet, abuse their pet shouldnt have one to begin with!
if u cant take care of it and deal with the responsibilities then just dont get one...
i understand that ppl want pets, but id rather them be happy than be neglected or abused, they need love and care, theyre not just some toy
sometimes i just dont understand ppl and why they do the things they do...
