i wouldn't think so..otherwise there would be law suits out there , that cant sell something that is poisonous because there are people who just wouldn't cut it right..so I'm sure that is a false statement.

No. The cutting of a vegetable or fruit would not affect what's in it and therefore would not be poisonous unless a poison was added to it. If they are not cooked properly there is more chance of ill feeling, but not poison so as would kill/maim.

Yes,

There is a vegetable from Jamaica called Ackee that has that characteristic. It has been illegal in the US (not sure of the current status).
With Ackee it is a timing thing. If the inside of the fruit is not ripe (or overly ripe), it is poisonous, So, it's not the cutting specifically, but it's making sure you have picked the fruit at the right time.

I seem to remember something about the outer part of a nut (maybe a cashew?) being poisonous but of course the nut is not. There's other stuff out there too like that too but I don't remember exactly what.

Will depend on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fresh fruit for me personally. It's tastier and gives you that little bit of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to slice back on sugar and lose weight vegetables
