Not usually. The issue with diabetics is usually the infection, not the antibiotic used to treat it. If the infection is not healing, then it may eventually become life-threatening. Infections can also cause blood sugar to rise.

Antibiotics may become a problem for diabetes control if they induce nausea and/or vomiting (like some of the "cyclines"). Less commonly, some antibiotics, like Tequin, have been found to cause severe hyperglycemia. They are not to be prescribed for someone with diabetes.
