Vegan. Was originally vegetarian - I was brought up that way.
"vegans are kindof stupid because it doesnt hurt a cow to give you milk. or a chicken to give you an egg!" - Ally
I became vegan because I realised this isn't strictly true. Hens are sometimes battery-farmed to get eggs (they're packed tightly into a coop, not allowed to move about).
And milk... the way its produced is by getting a cow pregnant. A cow will produce milk for about 300 days after giving birth, then stop, so it has to be made pregnant again.
Cow gives birth about 5 times in its life.
5 babies.. the female ones can be used as dairy cows... but the male ones? VEAL - turned into meat. The farmer simply can't affford to bring them all up, especially since they're of no use to him - he only needs one bull to get the cows pregnant (its mostly artificial insemination).
So by drinking milk, you increase the supply of male cows that are killed for meat.

I read a book by Victoria Moran called, "Compassion, The Ultimate Ethic (An exploration of veganism)" I had no idea what the book was about. It attracted me simply because of a drawing on the cover of a little boy with a lion and a few other animals.
It had a deep effect on me. I started behaving as if it were a sin to eat meat. I would even preach to certain people that it was wrong to eat meat. After a year of being a vegan I quit for several reasons. I'm a Christian and eating meat is allowed. Secondly I want to be huge and I won't get huge on a vegan diet.

What is your reason for being Vegetarian or Vegan?
An ideology-vegetarian (religious faith) would not able to inspire others to be a vegan/vegetarian, even their own kids. Of course the religious always has the fundamental of scientifical and philosophical docrine which not everyone been tought nowadays.
So, are you on a philosophical reason??
Than, you must be a PHILOSOPHY-VEGAN....non-violence to any beings in any nature, and peace.
Even depriving the egg/baby from her mom is wrong. Egg/baby is precious to all beings nevertheless the weak and defenseless.
Modern dairy farming is cruel, not sacred, and contained dozens of hormones and chemicals. These cows are short-life, sent to slaughterhouse after 10 years of productive period.
Captivating and prisoning animal and fish also a psychological human denial of of slavery and cruelty.
But you can become a vegetarian first. Gradually you can stop using egg, dairy, fur and leather.
Finally....
A true man of wisdom is someone who inspire others to share his value. Otherwise, is a selfish.

Athletics was my first reason. Increased endurance, strength, recovery time, etc. I was just converting from a poor diet to a healthy diet. The word vegetarian or vegan etc. never entered into it. What I wanted was to be as natural a human as possible, according to biology. It just turns out that humans are herbivores and herbivores eating a herbivore diet living in a society filled with herbivores that eat non-herbivore diets such as eating meat etc. are called vegans.

I don;t eat much red meat, but chicken / eggs are one thing i can't let go of. I see the kind heartedness factors of being a vegetarian / vegan however it seems liek a lot of them don't eat well / sufficiently. I'm in weights trying to get in really good shape, and i don't think that would be possible without a hearty well balanced diet. So, I'm almost a vegetarian, besides the massive amounts of chicken / eggs i eat. mmmm goood eating

Honestly? I never liked meat - I always that it was horrid to kill then eat an animal. But what helped me make my decision to become vegetation was that I had an older brother and sister who were.
I've now been I vegetarian since I was nine, and I have no regrets.

Out of respect for animals. I don't believe that we were placed on this planet to rule the animals but to care for them. I feel we already use animals for everything and I personally do not want to use them for food or clothing as well. I am not one of those over zealous animal rights people who think meat eaters are the spawn of satan, but I do hope to live in a world someday where we can live with the animals side by side rather than placing ourselves above them at every opportunity. We think we have dominion over the animals, but I know we wouldn't be able to live without them (since we use them for food, clothing, work, fuel, etc).

i do no longer understand, I used to hearken to quite a few issues that have been somewhat ignorant or stupid, yet i won't be in a position to think of of something that made me offended. at times it made me giggle, although. "you do no longer consume meat? no longer even bologna?" "flow forward and consume it. It won't kill you." (from the comparable guy who stated the 1st one) "My daughter was a vegetarian, yet she gave it up by using fact she went on a camping out holiday and have been given hepatitis from eating undesirable water." (I in no way did comprehend how being vegetarian had something to do with getting hepatitis from "undesirable water.") "i presumed vegetarians have been skinny." (i'm getting that one lots.) "you would be anemic, and your muscle tissues will atrophy." (my mom stated that, she replaced right into a nurse) "Who do you think of you're? Gandhi?" (additionally my mom) I artwork in medical documents and one time a physician wrote "vegetarian weight loss plan" on a affected person's prognosis record as though it replaced right into a disease. Vegetarianism isn't recognised as an ailment through international wellbeing corporation, AMA or the different professional wellbeing care corporation.
