Of getting diabetes in the future?

I'm 14 years old, 6'1.5'', about 150 lbs, pretty active. The thing is, I eat a lot of junk food. I eat fast food 2-3 times a week, ice cream, shakes, french fries, hamburgers. Im really skinny though. I used to be skinnier but i filled out over the past couple years. i have NO gut at all. almost a 4-pack. so should i worry about getting diabetes from all the sugar and crap i eat? cuz i know skinny people get it too. thanks a lot.

Whether you are at risk for diabetes or not, All that fat is going to clog your arteries and cause you to have a heart attack some day and if you are eating that much of it, it could happen by the time you are 25! You would do better by eating healthier, lots of veggies, fruits, leaner meats and fish and don't forget to drink your milk with meals for stronger bones. You want to build strong muscles and bones and joints don't you?

Yeah, even though you are skinny you can still get diabetes. Many people these days show NO symptoms of diabetes, in fact, and only find out when they drop into a coma suddenly. Most of the time the symptoms are classic (sudden weight loss or gain, increased thirst and urination, constant hunger, drowsiness, brain fog...) but not everyone has symptoms. Best is to eat a diet of mostly leafy greens, meat, whole grains, eggs, etc - get away from processed foods as much as possible.

Being active can cause you to have a big appetite. Your body needs a supply of calories to burn! (supply and demand)
If diabetes runs in your family, that may be more of a reason to worry about possibly developing it later in life.
For right now, you are eating a lot of empty calories. Try eating some proteins (meat, eggs, nuts) and cutting down on the sugars......that's good for everybody!

do you have it in your famly? if you do then you will get it when is the most wanted number. you could be getting it sooner if you eat large quantities of sugar. it comes slowly but will come. if you have no one in yur family with sugar you are lucky cause most likely not have it. take care.
