becoming a vegan is a huge step. trust me i went there and then i was a raw vegan. you have to make sure you know what you are doing. bc now that your trying to be a vegan you have to know what things to eat to make up for other things you dont eat. dont eat a whole bunch of junk and "fake" foods. eat tons of veggies and fruits!! make that most of your diet. and add some whole grains in there...i like manna bread...womens bread..and ezeikal bread. all can be found at a speciality health store. also make sure to get your fats like...RAW nuts and seeds...the enzymes are still in them so you get all the nutrients. so make sure they arent cooked. and same with oils...look for coldpressed and organic. drink lots of water. and i also take a shot of wheatgrass at least 3 times a week. its equivalent to 2 pds of vegetables!
well hope i helped! good luck
oh and one more thing...
make sure you are taking ur supplements like B12 and vitamin pill. that is a major part! dont forget to take those!

Have you tried soy or rice milk? I was a vegan for 2 years (had to quit because it caused some health problems in me) but I drank rice milk or soy milk. The chocolate rice milk is really good. Also, if you have a food coop anywhere near you there are really good soy cheeses and other soy-dairy products that will take away the craving without the animal products.
Hope this helps.

What do you mean, you "can't get rid of milk from your diet"? I've been a vegan my whole life, so... I don't really understand.
If you mean you REFUSE, then you're not a vegan. You're simply a vegetarian who eats no eggs or honey.
Please remember that veganism is a lifestyle, not just what you eat. Vegans don’t wear leather, fur, or wool, buy products from companies that conduct non-required animal toxicity tests:

Or frequent zoos, rodeos, circuses, or other places where animals are held in captivity or forced to perform.
Good luck!

For cows' milk sub soy milk, rice milk, or nut milk.
For cheese, there are vegan cheeses, but they're not very good. If you buy soy cheese, make sure it doesn't have casein (a dairy protein).
For ice cream, there's soy ice cream and rice ice cream. I'm a big fan of Soy Delicious Purely Decadent.
Tofutti makes soy cream cheese and soy sour cream (as well as soy ice cream). They're geared toward the lactose intolerant, but many of their products are accidentally vegan).
Milk pops up in a lot of foods--so read your labels (drives me nuts so many companies but milk in dark chocolate--snarl). You can get vegan chocolate and baked goods, though.
www.vegweb.com is a great site for resources and recipes.

Do your research. See the cruelty involved and the health implications it causes, then whenever you're tempted to drink it, think of it logically and it should get easier. It took me a while to get used to soy, almont and rice milk but now I love them and can't imagine ever drinking cows milk again.
