Sounds like Governor Chicken...
"Chunks of chicken with vegetables in special brown sauce"

Chow Mein is basically stir-fried noodles(crispy) usually with veggies and then there is Lo-Mein which is stir-fried noodles(soft) also but cooked less time.

My favorite is.......

General Tso's Chicken and you use Soy Sauce on your rice. Don't bite into the red peppers that come with it unless you want your mouth on fire.

Have a Nice dinner =)

Many people enjoy the sweet and sour pork so you might want to try that. Orange chicken is good as well and you could try the beef and broccoli. Chow mein is a noodle dish with julienne sliced vegetables seasoned with soy sauce. Fried rice is good also.

CHOW MIEN

1 lb. pork or chicken cut in thin strips
3 c. thin celery slices
1 c. of onion slices
1 c. of sliced fresh mushrooms
2 1/2 tbsp. corn starch
1 can condensed beef broth
1/4 c. soy sauce
1 (1 lb.) can bean sprouts, drained
1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained and sliced

In large skillet, cook meat in 1 tablespoon hot oil until done, about 10 minutes. Remove from skillet. Cook celery, onions and mushrooms in 2 tablespoons oil until crisp-tender, 2 to 3 minutes stirring often.
Blend corn starch and 1/4 cup water. Add beef broth and soy sauce (and 1 tablespoon brown gravy if you want).

Stir into vegetables. Add meat, bean sprouts and water chestnuts. Heat and stir until thickened. Serve over rice.

You could cut the chicken and pork into chunks, they will just take a little longer. You could use a sweet soy also.

sweet and sour sauce is usually red, or reddish. that may have been teriyaki chicken. both are great. chow mein is noodles with veggies and your choice of meat. my personal favorite is broccoli beef, you can also get it with chicken. if you like spicy go for something mongolian, kung pao, or szechuan. lemon chicken is also great if you like lemon flavor, this can be a little sweet. now i'm hungry =)

I'm not sure what chicken you are referring to because it could be a variety of dishes. When I order Chinese food, I always get shrimp toast, shrimp or beef fried rice and egg rolls. Sometimes I get the beef and broccoli meal.

Wow. it's really hard to tell you the name of the dishes....can't really translate them into English. Well, soya sauce and hoisin sauce are really awesome!
the sweet and sour dish is it reddish brown coloured?
Won Tons are good too. It's quite easy to make. Take Won Ton wrapping (circular) put in whatever you like (usually meat with shrimp, veggies...) and fold it (there's a specific way of folding. It can be like this: http://www.expat-village.com/article_86.shtml
but that is not the traditional way. and you can make Won Ton soup. Add won ton in soup (chicken prefably)!

Chow mien are fried noodles. Little bits of vegetables and meat are added to the noodles. There are different types of chow mien (ex: GuangDong Chow mien).

Apparently General Tao (not the person, the food) is really good. I don't know what it is even though I'm Chinese....but i got the recipe of it: http://www.therecipebox.com/members/box/poultry/pou0073.htm

Ever tasted tofu? not a lot of people like it. It's made out of bean and soya. they're white usually rectangular soft blocks.

There's also bean curd. Fried bean curd is good. Dip it in hoisin sauce or spicy sauce. Pic of bean curd: http://www.sinica.edu.tw/tit/dining/fig/0695_TWcuisine10.jpg

You should order egg rolls (i call it spring rolls)...they're so good!

DIM SUM!! They're amazing! Check out this pic (it tells you what dim sum consists of): http://www.chinatownconnection.com/images/dimsum2.jpg

Dim sum is not one type of food, it's a variety.
