A pescatarian diet refers to the exclusion of meat from the diet, with an exception for fish. Pescatarians don't have to eat fish every day, but this is still an important factor of pescatarianism.

pescatarian
Definition: Occasionally used to describe those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. Although the word is not commonly used and a pescatarian is not technically a vegetarian, more and more people are adopting this kind of diet, usually for health reasons or as a stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet. Pescetarians often believe that moderate consumption of fish or fish oils, which are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, is necessary for optimum health, although vegetarian alternatives, such as flax seed oil, are available.

A VEGETARIAN is one who eats no animal flesh.
As fish ARE animals, one who eats fish is NOT a vegetarian.
But those who are incapable of understanding this kindergarten logic like to get the attention associated with vegetarian, without people pointing out their hypocrisy. So they call themselves PESCETARIAN, which means a wannabe "vegetarian" who eats fish.
Their daily diet would consist of everything that doesn't contain animal parts except for fish.
---A REAL vegan.

Pescetarian diet is when you eat fish but not meat or poultry. If you are going to follow this diet - it is a healthy way to eat as fish is an excellent source of protien which is low cholesterol and high in omega 3 (if oily fish), please ensure you have enought vitamins and minerals from a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Most of the world's vegetarians eat small amounts of fish, seafood or poultry depending on the culture. The healthiest vegetarian diet in the world belongs to the Okinawans and theirs is a pesco-vegetarian diet. They eat fish, seafood but the major portion of their diet is plant/fruit based.
Regardless of what the people say on here ... those cultures that have been vegetarians for centuries upon centuries rarely exclude fish, seafood, or poultry from their diets. The people on here have their own little planet that doesn't know anything about the rest of the world.
Omega 3 complex from fish is more readily absorbable and useable than flaxseed or other veggie head substitutes and ounce for ounce fish (esp. oily fish ... tuna, mackeral, salmon) has more Omega -3.
You might want to check out the modern equivalent of the vegetarians you find in other cultures ... Google "Flexitarian Diets" or "flexitarians".

Pescatarians often claim they are a kind of vegetarian but in fact they are simply more selective omnivores.
They do not eat the meat of land animals or birds but do eat fish and other seafood. They are not vegans so they still drink milk and eat eggs and honey.

you are lucky you can eat loads of fish but you should eat some meat as well to be a true pesca. Maybe a little veal or rabbit get the balance right and you will become a ruler of the world plus you will be able to hold your breath underwater for 1/2 an hour. A really useful asset if you ever become a spy or get captured behind enemy lines and you need to escape back to your own country.

It is a mainly vegetarian diet, but one that allows fish and seafood. No other meat - such as beef, pork, poultry - is allowed.
Some pescatarians mistakenly call themselves "vegetarians", but they aren't.
