Ok I heard some things on TV a few days ago about diabetes and I need to check wheter I'm imaginating things or no...
First of all I'm not at all fat, but I do consume sugar here and there... I do drink alot of water and urinate frequently, but I do that like this: every time I urinate I drink a glass of water afterwards and I suppose thats a chain reaction... :P
I have this small wounds on the tip of some of my toes, they do heal but it's been about two weeks since I have them so I don't know if this could be categorized as slow healing (whick is also a symptom of diabetes right?) Now I was walking through snow in light shoes about the same time they appeared so they could also be frost wounds...
I would like to avoid going to a doctors office (since its winter and they are full of sick people) if possible, so if somebody could tell me wheter these are genuine sympthoms of diabetes or am I just imaginating that would be great...
(to be continued)

Please DON'T just write something you've read on Wikipedia - I can do that too. Please answer if you really know something about diabetes, don't just chase points.
Oh right I'm 19 years old...
Do I need to say anything else?

Diabetes is getting to be so common, no doubt you know, or someone you know does, that has diabetes. Ask them if you can use their glucose tester equipment, or ask them to do it for you... to test your glucose levels after fasting for 8 to 12 hours.
Being experienced, they would likely be able to determine if your glucose levels were too high.
If its high... get yourself to a doctor.... an Endocrinologist pronto.
If not... don't worry. Just watch your sugar intake and exercise regularly.

You shouldn't rely on a home glucose test for a diagnosis of diabetes. The are many factors that can affect the result.
Your symptoms don't suggest diabates to me. Consuming sugar isn't the problem, its how your body handles carbohydrates. The thirst is an overwhelming need, drinking litres and not being satisfied, not just a question of drinking a glass after going to the loo. Slow healing isn't weeks, its months with no sign of healing or granulation around the wound
But them I an a diabetic, not a doctor. You are clearly worried, so be sensible and go talk to a doctor. If you are diabetic you need proper medical advice as diabetes is a nasty disease and you shouldn't muck around with it. If you are not diabetic then you don't want to be mis-diagnosed and labelled as having a condition that you don't.

Hi ,Let me assure you that this is not from Wikipedia but my personal experience(My close friend is a diabetic )
The most common diabetes symptom is excessive thirst and increased urination. They are typical symptoms.
Loss of sugar through frequent urination, results in loss of calories. The presence of diabetes prevents the sugar from your food from reaching your cells. This leads to frequent hunger which will result in rapid weight loss, especially if you have type 1 diabetes. Therefore not being obese doesn't mean you cannot have diabetes.Ofcourse, obesity is a serious factor for developing type 2 diabetes.I found a site where you could find all your answers relating to diabetes and other health issues. It is a very interesting site. http://www.casanads.com/bm/hf.htm

First off for the person whom said you were too young to get diabetes....don't think so. You can get diabetes at any age. Second, I know you don't like to go to the doctors office, neither do I. But, it is very necessary for you to get professional medical advice from them and to have the correct tests done. There are diagnosis from type 2 diabetes, to type 1, to insulin resistant to diabetes insipidus. All kinds of possibilities. Third, the wounds, please get them checked out. It could be nothing, but then again, it could be something. Wouldn't you want to be put at ease with the proper diagnosis? Please take my advise and make a trip to the doctor. It surely would be in your best interest

There is only one way to know for sure that you have Diabetes. You must visit a doctor and have your blood sugar checked. Visit the American Diabetes Association Site and the American Heart Association sit. Both of these groups have extensive information on the web about diabetes.

three symptoms of diabetes is polyphagia, polyuria and polydypsia.. u eat too much, urinate frequently and drink always respectively..
if there is a laboratory near you, you should have an FBS or fasting blood sugar to detect whether you have diabetes or not.. 8 hours fasting should be done before you have your blood tested.. if you have the results then you can go to a doctor to interpret the results.. usually the normal value is indicated in the result paper..
goodluck..
you're still young to have diabetes but it is possible..

as long as your test was below 100 but can't be 50 you are ok with diabetics. i am one. now you know if you drink alot of stuff you will uranate alot. can't spell but i am adult. lol oh well enugh of this. when a wound does not heal it means mos and long times. sometimes they don't get it to hardly get a film over the place its suppose to quit bleeding. its not weeks but mos to longer. then you worry. when it gets warmer just go have a small check up and see what is up. it could be not much but its always to be safe not sorry. take care.

When you become diabetic, you loose weight. When sugar levels are high in blood, they call it hyperglycemia. In that condition, you become confused. You are unable take any decision. You may also feel giddy. In hypoglycemia when sugar level is low, you feel a sinking sensation.
But if you feel uncertain, you should go to some diagnostic center and tell them to test your sugar level for diabetes. You do not need reference of a doctor.
