...you are right...it means not otherwise specified...meaning it's not being classified as allergic asthma, exercise induced asthma, etc.

Asthma NOS means "asthma not otherwise specified". That's just doctor-speak for regular run-of-the-mill asthma as opposed to asthma from exposure to occupational chemicals or purely exercise-induced asthma, etc. etc.
