"As a Brit, I can tell you the Vegetarian Society --- venerable in it's time --- is now a bunch of old tossers counting the wrinkles on each others willies. They simply have failed to have an original thought since 1847 when it emerged from Christian fundamentalism."
Are the our answer to PETA???

Kiester . . . your answer is quite nonsensical. You haven't read the question. Your avatar truly represents your level of functioning and lack of social skills.

You obviously are an insecure male intimidated by assertive, accomplished and intelligent women . . . as most losers are.

Lo-Mcg--- What mystery? Read the question, luv. I asked what you thought about the quote ... but since you don't think much so this question is difficult for you. I didn't ask who authored the quote. Do you understand now?

Alison--- Would you care to give concrete specifics as to why you don't believe it is true? Or are you going to just make statements without substantiation? That makes you appear foolish, luv.

ilovedog--- Any specifics? Or are you going to stand there looking foolish. It's obvious you are immature as your profile indicates. But I certainly would welcome an answer that showed some thinking.

BEEBS--Do you have any specifics for your answer? Or as a Top Contributor do you feel you are above giving a substandard and inane answer.

DAVID V--Yes, I understand one of the more popular "non-jobs" is "Free Range Farmer". I understand that is a euphemism for "lazy farmer", which gives you lots of time on YA.

Nice quote. Probably true from my experience especially on here most vegetarians I have met on here are small minded individuals who have no idea what the real world is all about. They rant and rave with no substance and a lot of them have clearly not got useful lives after all to get to be a top contributor you have to spend a lot of time on here which means you cant possibly hold down a proper job too. I know i couldnt. Most of the male veggies probably suffer from penis envy and the quote is probably understated and should read on each others "small and shrivelled" willies

The site and what the publish is truly "bizarre", harmful and really "anti-intellectual" and "anti-scientific". But I will focus on one thing.
I'm not from the UK, but I looked at the site and read where they haven't changed their definition of "vegetarian" since 1847.
It struck me that they make an exclusive claim to the "Truth" that their definition of "vegetarian" is THE TRUTH.
That is not only pompous, but untrue. Most of the vegetarian cultures would not subscribe to that.
What you have is the Christian Fundamentalist thinking applied to vegetarianism. It also was a time of British Colonialism and that idea that their way is the only way, certainly comes through. They are "right" and the world is wrong.
We have ample examples of that kind of knee-jerk, fundamentalist, colonialist, reaction to a changing world in many of the V&V "regulars".
So we have a bunch of likely mostly "white folks" with a fundamentalist and colonialist attitude clinging to 147 yo colonial ideas in a much changed world. It's a dying entity and as it nears it's end it will become more bizarre. It has little influence in the world.
I believe in it's bizarre information and rigidity it is a lot like PETA, but I can imagine these old "sods" destroying animals, assaulting people, etc.
No, it's much too comfortable sitting amidst antique surroundings, lamenting at a "world gone wrong", surprised the world doesn't see how wise they are, predicting hellfire and damnation, and counting the wrinkles on their "carrots".

I'm vegan and a member of the Vegan Society. I find the Society quite good, but there's room for lots of variations of views. Viva seem to have come on in leaps and bounds.
When I help on outreaches through my local veggie society we use leaflets, etc, from several organisations including the Vegetarian Society.
If you are and want to remain vegetarian, why not try Viva?

The Vegetarian Society has nothing to do with PeTA. A society that says it is o.k. to eat dairy and eggs but not o.k. to eat meat is a very hypocritical one.
How is this quote an answer to PeTA?
You are obviously very confused if you think of PeTA every time that you hear or read "vegetarian"
This question makes no sense. I couldn't really expect any more from you though, could I?
-------------------------
You should really give up the act. It is more than obvious that you and Meg are just veg people that are trying to make meat-eaters look bad. No one is really as ignorant as the two of you make yourselves seem.

DOOM is a genius. He can rhyme immediately, he can rhyme sluggish. His lyrics are magnificent. Lil Wayne isn't even on his ingredient. he's not even a one million to DOOMs 10. You all p.c. to teach your self in MF in case you do no longer have faith me. he's extremely prolific too, genius beats.
