It's not a turn-off if the guy eats meat, only if he gets down on me about how I eat. My current boyfriend eats seafood and chicken (no beef or pork) and it's worked out just fine, because he respects the fact that I'm a vegetarian.

I guess I would see a guy being a vegetarian as a plus, but not a necessity. There are other things that are more important to me.

When I went veg I'd been involved with an omnivore for a long time & didn't stop seeing him b/c of his diet (other issues were @ play though). Then, when I was single, I didn't meet many vegetarian guys & if an omni had other qualities that appealed to me, I'd potentially be interested in him. My SO, for instance, is funny, caring, a good listener & shares many values that I find important. He ate meat when we 1st got involved, but gradually gave it up & now it's just over 9 years since he's eated meat.

It's not really a "turn off", because I just don't mentally think of someone who eats meat as a possible date or boyfriend. I've been a vegan since conception and have only dated vegetarians or vegans, and I have plenty of dates and love interests. : )

Its okay if you eat meat....just try to be a little cautious. Don't order ribs at a restaurant. Most vegetarians don't want to watch the person across from them pull meat off of a bone. That make sense? Just realize that meat may gross out your non-meat-eating girlfriend. And its always appreciated if you are willing to eat a vegetarian meal...for convenience sake...ie: if she is cooking :)

I don't know if it's a turn off. Being vegan is a turn on, though. For long-term I'd like to find a vegan guy. It's hard to have a relationship with someone whose ethics and morals are so different from your own. It's like an atheist dating a christian, it can work but sometimes there will be clashes & for some, it's something they aren't okay with.

Personally, I've dated one vegan and the rest were omnis. The older I get, the pickier I get. I'd much rather a vegan.

NO!!! It's a plus in my book. The "strict" or fanatical vegetarian guys will kill you with boredom. All they talk about is foods, cruelty to animals, keeping fit, how great it is to find a veggiehead (I'm a flexitarian vegetarian).

Their social graces are abysmal!!! They are in a word "creepy". I don't even like to be around them. My current significant other has minimized the meat in his diet, simply because he likes the things I cook and the fact that I'm not a fanatic about my diet and the fact that it is part of my spiritual practice ... I'm not a fanatic about that either.

It depends. Usually not. But it is hot if the guy's vegetarian, too.

Its always a plus if they are but I don't ever judge a person because they eat meat. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs just as I am. A turnoff?...no. But if he is vegetarian as well its awesome.
