after i woke up from general anaesthesia they just said i should be drinking a lot of water, which made me vomit.
is this normal?

No it's not normal, you should not take anything by mouth, until gut sounds come back. Then the Fast is broken by Liquid, however I have seen vomiting even after return of gut sound.
The above is standard method.

It is not normal to ask the same question three times in the same posting.People react differently to anaesthesia,drinking the required amount of water each day should be automatic with you.

it is not normal. as far as as i know , if one person undergo gen anesthesia, 8 hours nothing per mouth, the rationale is to avoid vomiting, further aspiration....

YES THIS NORMAL SOME TIMES UNTIL ITS GET OUT YOUR BODY WHICH COULD BE HOURS ANAESTHETIC CAN MAKE YOU SICK BUT AFTER THAT YOU WILL BE FINE
