how does energy get to buildings?

Electricity - In the past overhead cables were used, Lately mostly by underground cables.
Gas - Underground pipes.
Some solar power may be collected on the roof,
Some buildings also have Diesel emergency generators. The diesel may be piped in or via barrels.
