You can't prevent diabetes .. You'd get it even if you ate nothing.

To HELP prevent diabetes, it is important to eat balanced meals and not overeat. Portions are important too. If you are prone to develop diabetes, be very careful in what types of carbs you eat. Try to stay away from white like bread and potatoes and white rice-eat green carbs like veggies. Eat whole grains. Eating smaller more frequent meals helps keep your sugar on an even keel and eat regularly. Don't pig out at one big meal and then not eat the rest of the day. Balance is the key in nature. Go online and do some serious reading about diabetes and you will learn there are a lot of symptoms that occur early in life that need attending to. In my case I always had trouble with my gums so see a dentist on a regular basis and brush and floss. I had gingivitis, inflamation and swelling of the gums, early in life. Now I'm working on just keeping my teeth in my mouth. There are other things too. Read and learn. You are responsible for your health so take the time.

There are no specific foods that will prevent you from becoming diabetic. You cannot prevent type 1 diabetes but you can prevent type 2 by healthy lifestyle, not becoming obese or if you are then losing weight as its something to do with weight and the added work your pancreas has to do. And, ensure to maintain exercise!!!

None.
The real cause of diabetes is still not known. It is partly a genetic predisposition, but there must be other causes too, that the medical science still doesn't know of.
People that have diabetics in their family, seem to have a higher risk to get it too. But that's no rule.Obesity seems to be predispositional too, but again that's no rule.
As long as medical science doesn't know the cause(s), we can do nothing to prevent it.

Low sugar and low carb foods, seeing that carbs when processed in your body turns to sugar. Things like tortillas, pastas, breads, cookies, sweets, potatoes and so on make your blood sugar rise quickly. Also sodas will make it happen too.
