Don't wear her clothes, or sleep in her bed. You won't get it from normal daily contact.

Do not use her face cloths or her towel as herpes can live on the fibers for a small amount of time.
It's not something that can easily be caught just because you live with someone with herpes, it's not like HIV. Unless you have intercourse with her the chances of you getting it will be slim.
Just keep separate wash cloths and towels and you'll be fine.

As sarcastic as the first girl sounds, it's true. The only way you can get the herpes is if you have sex with her, or if you touch her wherever she has the outbreak. If she has genital herpes, you CANNOT catch it from towels, toilets, clothing (except maybe used underwear, but even that is unlikely.) HOWEVER, if she has oral herpes (on or in her mouth) you can catch them by using her makeup, chapstick, lip gloss, or from drinking as the same glass as her. You cannot catch the herpes if you drink from the same glass if it has been washed. Don't worry! It's almost impossible to get herpes from someone without having sexual contact with them!

You cannot "catch" herpes from sitting on a toilet seat an infected person has sat on, nor can you catch it from sharing a glass or eating utensil. Herpes is usually transmitted by some form of sexual contact: intercourse, oral sex, and even by kissing. So unless you and she are engaging in any sexual acts, you are fine. Like another answerer stated, don't share chapstick or lip gloss with her, especially if she has an open sore (outbreak) on or near her lips.

Just living in the house with someone will not make you catch herpes. If you are in a sexual relationship thats different. But of you are just friends and roomates, just dont use lipstick or chapstick if she has an outbreak on her mouth. otherwise you are cool.

There are some smart answers in here, don't use same chapstick, lipstick, makeup.... dont use her clothes... Most important dont make her feel really uncomfortable... it may not have been her fault that she has this... maybe she was raped.... just be smart and think when she an outbreak ask her to tell you so both you and her can be comfortable. ask her about herpes and ask how it can be prevented

you can't just catch herpes from someone in your house. Unless she has it on her mouth and you use her chapstick. If they're below the belt, then the two of you should not have any below the belt contact, and you'll be fine.

You won't catch it from her unless you exchange bodily fluids or something. And you can't catch it on the toilet seat. Tell her to take some Valtrex.
