In the strictest sense, the label is a bit misleading. Vegetarians come in several flavours...
Ovo-lacto- vegetarians eat a primarily vegetarian diet, but also eat eggs and dairy products.
Lacto- vegetarians eat dairy and veggies
vegetarians eat fruits and vegetables
vegans eat only veggies.
As you go down this list, you put yourself at higher risk for nutritional deficiency. If you choose this route, do your homework carefully to protect your health.

Eggs are vegetarian, not vegan.... Vegetarians eat eggs and drink milk because you are not killing anything. The eggs that they use will never or would have never turned into chickens, so there for, aren't meat.

They would have turned into chickens IF a the hen mated with a male, but it didn't.

So? Vegetarians can eat eggs... they aren't fertilized so won't turn into a chicken if they aren't eaten. If it said 'suitable for vegans' then it would be a different story.

It means they just have no real animal meat in them. Some types of vegetarians will eat eggs. No vegans will.

Most vegetarians eat eggs. Most are ovo-lacto-vegetarians.

Commercially bought eggs are unfertilized. There is no foetal chicken in there. There's no meat, and nothing killed by eating unfertilized eggs.
