Most of the people answering your question who are claiming that tofu is so awful, have probably never even tasted it. It all depends on how you cook it. Tofu picks up the flavor of whatever it is cooked in and can be prepared in many different ways--i.e. fried, baked, blended into smoothies, made into a filling for veggie lasagna, etc. You really need to try tofu that is prepared in a number of ways before deciding you don't like it. A lot of the time you might not even realize it's tofu. It's extremely healthy and if prepared well, is very delicious as well.

Raw eggs--nasty, not to mention a salmonella risk.
Sardines--nasty.
Pate de foie gras--truly disgustingly nasty. I cannot imagine a grosser food on the planet, except maybe..
Escargot--seriously vile.
Even if I were omnivore, I wouldn't want to touch that dreck!
Tofu--deeelicious, at least when cooked right.

Never had sheep's eye soup, have you? Just like the soup in that Indiana Jones movie, sheep's eyes floating in the pot. Or even jellied sheep's eyes would probably do you in, pretty good though after the initial crunch. Then there's the poison sac of the King Cobra drunk in a glass of gin. Feels like a nuclear explosion going off in your stomach, covers you with sweat, eyes watering, then you're fine enough to reach for the next one. Enjoy!

I has to be cooked correctly. It takes on the flavors you cook it with. I sometimes order chinese food with fried tofu, and its wonderful.

Depends on how you cook it. and raw eggs????? Tofu is almost like that. If you cook it readily and don't let it get hard in the pan. It tastes pretty good.

It all depends on how it's made, because basically it's tasteless until seasoning is added. Also, if it's cooked right the texture won't be mushy.
