Tap water is OK to drink anywhere in the UK. You do not need to boil it. But if you have recently come to the country it might be best to mix bottled and tap water for a while so that your stomach gets used to the change of water.

Drinking fruit juice in moderation is OK but with your medical background you should drink more water or other sugar-free drinks than fruit juice.

As regards the chocolates, find something else to eat. It is full of sugar and fat and not good for you.

If you are worried about the diabetes thing then make an appointment with a doctor and talk about it. There is no charge to see a doctor

Lastly, I would advise you not to reveal your real name in chat-rooms or forums such as this. There are some people who are not nice out there.

Yes my grandmother was a diabetic and my mother is a diabetic now. I am also showing early signs of becoming diabetic. I am insulin resistance and have an impaired fasting glucose. No fruit juice or candy at all. Ask the Dr to check you by doing a fasting glucose tolerance test. Fruit juice is a simple sugar and will raise your blood sugar. Also limit your carbs.

I am no doctor. But if you have that strong of a familial tendency to have diabetes---I'd stay away from the chocolates if I were you. And see a doctor regularly.
