Diabetes is hereditary hence only the possibility is that your children might be diabetics. Diabetic patients suffer erectile dysfunction. But it can be discussed later with the doctor. He has to be more careful to keep it under control by adopting healthy life style and healthy dietary habits along with exercise. If not kept under control , it can damage kidneys. So its very important to take good care to keep every thing under control and you have to help him.

The only thing is have regular glucose monitoring, healthy dietary habits, timely medication and active life style is very important. Nothing is impossible. EXERCISE IS MUST, just remember this. Also should learn yoga as it can be done at home to keep every thing under control. So every thing is in our hands.

If you truly love him then please go for him as he really needs your help and also some one who cares about him and love him.

You never know what happens in the future so don't worry about anything. Just enjoy your life to the fullest. Leave every thing on God and am sure every thing will be good as you will look after him and help him, standing by his side. God helps those who loves themselves.

Should not worry about diabetes as in most cases its due to life style and these days there are so many diabetics and it doesn't matter whether it is type 1 or 2 as far as kept under control in both the types.

Yes, he can live a healthy long life!!!

Good luck!!!

A type 1 diabetic who is managing his blood sugar correctly IS healthy. And if he continues to manage it well for the rest of his life it won't shorten his life. And ... any children the two of you might have will only have a 2 - 5 percent chance of having it. And if your children have it ... so what? Your child will be better off, because you will be watching for the signs, and your husband will know everything about it already.

My daughter was just diagnosed with it, and she does not have one family member with the disease. 90% of people who develop it have no family history of it. Yes, it's partially hereditary, it's a combination of genes you inherit with environmental factors. No one yet knows what the environmental factors are that cause it. There are many cases where one twin will have it and the other won't. This includes identical twins.

So don't worry about it. It shouldn't effect your life to a great extent. If you love the guy, go for it.

You can't get diabetes from someone else, it's not contagious. He will have to watch his diet and exercise for his whole life, and you should talk to a counselor if you're planning to have children. You'll have to learn the warning signs to look for if he has trouble. If he knows what to do and his condition is stable, you can have a long healthy life together. If he's a good person, I'd stay with him.

You and or your baby have nothing to fear. Type 1 is not necessarily inherited directly down the line.

Your only problem that I can see is eventual ED but that can be discussed between both of you and the doctor later.

All you have to do is learn what foods he needs and what to give over like nearly forever to keep him in stable mode.

You should have better choices with him as to keeping yourself healthy and well exercised!! So you never get fat either.

all you have to do is learn how to test his glucose levels, administer any needed first aid for Hypos, and love him for who he is!!

Don't be afraid of this disease!! If you are, cut out now!!

There is a risk that your children (or grand children) could develop it, but with the way its going nowadays, its just getting easier to deal with diabetes, I have had it for 17 years now.
I say dont worry about it, just have a happy marriage and children and all that stuff :)

You can be tested to check the probability of him passing it onto your children, but I think it's an expensive test.
