I laugh when Westerners convulse in disgust when hearing about entrails being common in Chinese cuisine.

The fact of the matter is a lot of their campadres delight in these dishes as well.

Scotland - Haggis (heart, liver, etc. wrapped in sheep stomach ), ****** (minced liver + cheeks), etc.

In Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Iceland - liver, kidneys, intestines, gizzards are used in traditional cuisine.

Even the English are famous for the "ol' liver n' onions."

But that fact of the matter is that Chinese continue to eat this kind of stuff because they only recently got out of an economic rut. Even after the cultural revolution, valuable meat and rice were rationed. So you can see the "don't waste anything" mentality. Same thing applied to Europe when they were facing poverty.

So stop hating on the East Asians.

My man, cooked liver, braised calf's brain, kidney pie. I mean what's the matter. They ain't poison, they're delicious!
They all eat them in Europe. They got the tallest people in the world and the Euro is almost 1.5 to the dollar.

I've never heard anyone say that East Asian food was disgusting based on ingredients that are contained in only a small portion of the food. Most people I know of think guts and bugs are gross wherever they are.

If they enjoy a food (like sausage) they'll pretend it doesn't contain anything innard-y (like intestine casings).

And for future reference, we eat guts in America, too. Liver is one example. It's frequently made into pate and called a delicacy.

Mostly its because of ignorance and unfamiliarity. At first glance, unfamiliar food (regrdless of ethnic origin) will seem unappetizing until actully tasted. the Japanese were openly disgusted by how they prepare and what westernerts called food, mainly rare cooked meats. Indians were horrified to find that white men ate beef, a Hindu no-no. So obviously, prejudice against ethinic cuisines exists or existed on both sides.
