Someone I love is using them but still has strong cravings after many months. He won't use chantix so please don't suggest that. Not sure how to help him.

In my opinion, everything works differently for different people. While someone could have success doing one thing to help quit smoking, it might not work at all for another person. I would try a non-medicated way (such as counseling) along with the gum to help increase the chances of quitting his nicotine addiction.

For example, I know someone who quit smoking using bubble gum and sheer willpower. Someone else I know used hypnosis and never ever had a craving after that. It depends on the person because I know many people can't quit with only willpower and others wouldn't be helped with hypnosis, etc.

Good luck!

I used to chew the gum for years after quitting smoking. On the gum, off the gum and back on, just like a smoker. I finally got off of it about 5 months ago, and it was horrible. I chewed it like bubble gum. He has to want to do it...nicotine is a horrible addiction. To boot, commit, nicorette, etc. is expensive! I used to spend 50 bucks a week on it (between my husband & I). Good luck, but truth is he has to want to quit.
