I have had this complaint for almost a year now. My nose is terribly blocked, and I find it hard to breathe. Other times my nose is runny. My breathing is very noisy. My GP gave me a spray last week, its not helping at all. He thought I may have had polyps, but when he looked up, he just said the lining of the nose was very thick. Has anyone had this condition, and what did you do.

The inside of my nose has been swollen since Christmas last year.I've got a big lump up it which I thought was a polyp but it's just really swollen. It gets runny/blocked and gives me wicked sinusitis :(Dr seems to think it's an allergy.Even cold air hurts though so I'm not convinced!

I've bought an air purifier and I take an antihistamine daily along with flixonaise spray. It does help but the spray takes about a month to work properly.Inhaling steam helps too. I also have an appointment with ENT at the hospital next month. Go back and see your Dr and ask for a referral because it's taken 8 months for me to get an appointment.

I Have This Probelm!
One Thing I'd Say Is Don't Over Blow Your Nose, It Blocks It Even More.
Anti-Congestants Don't Work For Me But Extra Strong Lockets Do As They Are Realy Realy Strong. Also In The Night Those Breathe Right Strips Are Good. Try Them, They May Help.

I have had this condition for several years now and am still taking Flixonase spray which does help but dries your nose out something chronic! If you have that problem with the spray try Sterimar (from chemists) which is a salt water spray you use to help soothe and lubricate the nasal passages (This was recommended to me by my consultant). Also, inhaling steam can help -you don't need to add anything to the water but Olbas oil is helpful.
I would definitely suggest you ask your GP for a referral to your local ENT clinic because they may find your sinuses need attention. I have had the same operation twice for my problem because it was left so long, but if you see a specialist asap this might not be needed.

Have yourself allergy tested. There used to be some offices I had to visit and I could guarantee within 5 minutes of being there my nose would be running (a bit inconvenient when your mucking about in the back of a computer). 15 minutes after leaving I was fine again. Never got to the bottom of it but I'm convinced I was allergic to something there.

Its sounds like allergic rhinitis...similar to hay fever but not necessarily anything to do with pollen. Use the spray regularly as it may take a few days to work. If it doesn't help after another week, go back and see him again.

Regular steam menthol vapour helped my Daughter. Sometimes these blockages can be very stubborn.
