My husband has lived with diabetes for about 18 years. I was told in August that I am type 2 diabetic. I don't know exactly what kind of information you are looking for, but I can tell you the symptoms of diabetes, and all the complications a person might have if a diabetic doesn't take care of their health.

Here are the physical signs of diabetes:

being very thirsty
frequent urination
extreme hungry
increased fatigue
losing weight without trying
blurry vision
irritability
sores that are slow to heal
dry, itchy skin
tingling or loss of feeling in hands or feet
frequent infections, especially yeast infections

The things that happens to diabetics, especially if they do not take care of themselves is:

Heart disease, such as coronary arteries disease. This happens when plaque builds up and blocks the artery.

High blood pressure.

Renal failure. This is caused by high blood pressure and out of control blood glucose levels for long periods of time.

Bleeding in the small blood vessels behind the eyes, which can lead to blindness. This is also caused by elevated blood glucose levels and high blood pressure.

Neuropathy pain in hands and feet.Very painful.

All these symptoms and diseases don't happen to every diabetic. It really depends on the person and how well they manage their diabetes.

If your parents are have diabetic symptoms, I would suggest that they go to their doctor and have blood work done to see if they are a diabetic. Normal blood glucose levels at fasting should be 60 - 120.

Good luck with your parents. Have a wonderful day!

Diabetes is when your pancreas can not make insulin. Type II diabetes, the kind that older people generally get, is typically due to a high carbohydrate diet and lack of execise. Without insulin, the cells in your body can not take in the sugar that you eat. That means that the sugar stays in your blood in your blood vessels instead. A lot of sugar in your blood causes damage to your kidneys, your eyes, and your nerves. Symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, constant thirst, and sometimes infections like urinary tract infections or yeast infections on the skin. Treatment includes changing your diet to lots of lean meat and vegetables and getting rid of the sugar and carbohydrate in the diet, and exercise. Most people usually are put on a pill at first that helps their body make or respond to insulin. Eventually, most diabetics end up having to use injections of insulin to control their blood sugar. All diabetics should check their blood sugar a few times a day.

just google Diabetes and you will come up with about 5,000 sites to read about this nasty disease. If you don't have the google search engine, any of the others will give you almost as many.

Beware of the sales pitch sites that say Diabetes can be cured. It CAN"T be cured. It can only be controlled.

It is condition in which the blood glucose level abnormally rises due to some of the metabolic disorders. Actually there are two types; type-1 and type -2 as well. Type -1 is commonly known as insulin dependent because in this condition there is destruction of insulin producing cells where as in type-2 is insulin independent instead there is defect in target cells of insulin. Most of the symptoms of both types are common such as increase appetite, increase thirst and frequent urination. Besides these unusual weights loss is the additional symptom of type 1 where as eye sight weakness, slow healing of wounds, tingling sensation on the feet, weigh gain as well. If you want to find out the reason of all of these symptoms please read the article.

Type one diabetes happens around the teenage years, and with type one, kids have to use the needle for insulin. Type two usually occurs around age 40 or so, then you regulate it by dieting, exercising, and taking your medecine regularly (usually a form of metformin). You have to be careful, because you live with it, it cannot be cured and if you are not careful, you can end up blind and you can also lose your toes, your feet and even parts of your legs..
