It's really not hard at all. I use to basically be a carnivore, and I went vegan pretty much overnight with no problem at all. I'm still a vegan with no thoughts of going back, and I just feel so much better now! Some benefits other than weight loss are a reduced risk for a LOT of diseases, in increased lifespan (Vegetarians have a life expectancy about 6 years longer than non-vegetarians), you'll feel better in general and be a lot less lazy (trust me). I'm not sure why you decided to try to become a vegetarian, but I did for ethical reasons. So the best advice I can give on dedicating yourself is just thinking about all the horrible things that happen to animals just so we can eat meat, and think about how many animals you will save from an entire lifetime of torture. Go to google video and watch "Meat your meet" if you want some help being dedicated... And think about how much healthier you'll be! Best of luck, hope it's just as easy for you as it was for me!

I am a Lacto-Vege and proud!! :D I committed myself to becoming a vegetarian by being happy about my decision and thinking about all the good aspects of my decision. To have a planed diet it would be best to Consult your GP (general practitioner) and/or dietitian to help with your vegetarian diet.This helps to stay even more healthy.
Becoming a vegetarian is easy for some and difficult for others. It will most likely make you lose weight as you are digesting less fat (Meat has HEAPS of Fat). For me it was easy but everyone is different.

you need to realize that the meat diet is the diet that consists of eating decomposing carcasses that sit in your body for half a month and rot.
got it? good.
if you become a VEGAN, then there are SO many benefits:
Vegan diets are a subset of vegetarian diets, which are credited with lowering the risk of colon cancer, heart attack, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, prostate cancer, and stroke. (Wikipedia)
Just eat (some) nuts or beans and you'll be fine. You don't even need that much protein. There is no protein shortage in the American diet. Instead, be concerned about getting enough fiber. 25-30 grams a day of fiber is apparently ideal.

I had to become a vegan for awhile because I have stomach problems and it wasn't all that bad. I think the most efficient way is to get rid of all meat (and fish if you're doing that too), you just need to make sure to take extra vitamins, eat nuts, get into soy products...at save on they have a fake-meat lasagna that tastes exactly like real meat...once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy

A vegetarian diet is good for your heart for one thing. It also benefits your digestive tract. There was a study that showed higher IQs in vegetarians. If you really want to quit eating meat there are plenty of websites that will turn you off of it in a hurry. Check out the peta website for one.

i have been a vegetarian all my life. At the age of 13, i weighed 220 lbs....that i sbecause i am a fan of sandwishes, chip and chocolate...so becoming a vegetarian won't helpo a lot, whilst eatin fibre will. In addition, the protein doesn't make u fat and is needed for ur muscles....moreover, it takes much time to digest in ur stomach so u feel full for a longer time than eatin carbohydrates.

You want to lose weight? Then think carefully before cutting out meat completely, it doesn't suit everyone.
Learn about alternative sources of protein: pulses and fungi.
Bear in mind also that domesticated animals exist because we eat them, they are bred for our table. If humanity stopped eating meat, then humanity and animal herbivores such as cattle, horses, sheep and goats would be in direct competition with humans for food resources, and who do you think is going to win that battle ... those herbivores would eventually become extinct if we didn't breed them to eat them. On this planet, humans are at the top of the food chain.
I'm not saying that you should stop eating meat, I'm saying that you should think carefully about your reasons for wishing to stop eating meat. Meat isn't murder, it's the circle of life.

It is good for you....but you'll only lose weight if you eat healthy items. You cant live off twinkies and cake and expect to lose weight .However if you eat healthy then you will lose alot of weight. But since your doing it for health purposes, and not moral, most likely you wont stick to the diet for very long.

It isn't a weight loss regime. There are fat vegetarians and lean vegetarians, just as there are fat and lean omnivores. And vegetarians can have a healthy or unhealthy diet, just as omnivores can.
If you are hoping simply becoming vegetarian will make you lose weight (if you need to) you may be very disappointed.
