i am a singer. singing is what i love to do. but for some reason it has become difficult for me. even to talk sometimes is hard because it is almost painful to do so. i am still able to sing thank God, but it hurts sometimes. and when i try to hit those high notes i used to, its almost like something is blocking the sound from coming out. does any body know why this could be ? i am having a voice analysis in December and i pray that they will have answers for me, but i wanted to see if there were any answers out there. i also have not been able to smell for almost 2 years. i hope someone as answers. thanks.

You might well have something wrong with your vocal cords: I understand that's a problem singers have.

I would suggest drinking lots of water and letting your voice rest.

There's no guarantee that your voice will go back to the way it was, but the odds will be more in your favor.

Good luck!

Wait until you have the voice evaluation, but stop singing in the meantime. The speech pathologist who does the voice evaluation and videostroboscopy will perform the therapy and guide you through the process.
Singing with a damaged mechanism will only make the damage (pathology) worse, not better.
