Good question Me!
I was wondering the same thing because somehow if I ever decided to do such a thing I am sure that he would be against our homeowners association.
And they already don't like us!

Wouldn't adopting these turkeys be contributing in some way to the meat industry? I mean those turkeys had to be bought, right? I think it would be more important to prevent these turkeys from ever coming into existence than it would be to "adopt" the birds that already exist. Seems counter-productive.

I was reading about this just recently. They are donated to petting zoos and places like that. They do not have much time to enjoy the free life though. The birds usually die within a year. They were bred to become large fast, not to live a long time.

Adoptions through Farm Sanctuary (adoptaturkey.org) are more of a sponsorship although it IS possible for vegetarians and vegans to adopt turkeys through their program and provide a safe, happy home for them to live out their lives. The money from "adopting"' goes to help rescue more turkeys that live out their lives on the Farm Sanctuary preserve and helps to provide food and care for the turkeys that live there.
Adopting a turkey through their program is only $20. I urge everyone (trolls included) to donate to a charitable animal cause, such as Farm Sanctuary, this Thanksgiving holiday.

I adopted my turkey out but the people just wanted to give money to save the stupid animal they didn't want to be bothered with keeping it and feeding it, so I'm eating it.

Turkeys should be taken from the farms and released into the wild, that is the only moral thing to do.

They are fatten up and eaten the next year.
Ok, they are adopted by people who care enough to treat them right and let them live out their lives naturally and freely.
