Ideas for a birthday cake to fit a 50s theme party?

My daughter is having her birthday party at a place that is decorated in a 50s theme so I kind of wanted to make a cake to fit the theme. Any ideas?

Now that black frosting is sold, consider making the cake a record album. Use a brightly-colored 'label' for the center ring and a single birthday candle as the spindle.

I think The simplest Idea would be a round cake decorated like a record. If she has a favorite oldies song you could put that tile and the artist on it. Like an actual record would look.

Another simple idea could be cupcakes arranged in the shape of a poodle, or a sheet cake cut into the shape of a poodle and decorated pink, or black as was common on "Poodle Skirts"

You can always do ice cream cone cupcakes. They are cupcakes baked in ice cream cones, they are very cute and they look great when there are a bunch of them grouped together! Just google 'Ice cream cone cupcake recipes' to find the directions.

Or try one of these:

Record cake-A round cake with grooves around the outside, put the birthday child's name in the center part.
Drive-in Cake- A sheet cake with small cars parked next to speakers (toothpicks or candles). Use graham crackers for the screen, cut out a small picture of the movie and attach it to the g. crackers.

How about a cake with chocolate frosting made to look like a record album? You could but a circle of white or other color in the center to mimic the label and a chocolate dot in the very center to be the hole. Could be cute.

Ohh what a GREAT idea!!!!! How about a giant eyeball cake? You can get the round pans at hobby lobby. Or do a mad scientist face with frizzy hair (twizzlers) and stuff. For the cupcakes have gross stuff like "slime", gummy worms, etc. and they can "experiment" with their own! This will be soo much fun (i may steal your idea for the next kid party!)
