I am a lacto-ovo Vegetarian for five years now.I became a vegetarian because I did it out of a beat with my mother and brother to see who would last the longest.I won of course. My mother and brother did not even make it a whole month. When in fact I made it five years. After I won the beat I did it also for health reason's.When I saw what happens to make our hamburger's and our turkey's and ham etc..I was mortified that what happens to these innocent animals that have no voice. We are there voice and we need to stop eating them. You do not need meat to live.I am sadden every time someone eats meat.I think of the animal's pain that it had to go through for people to consume it.I hope people realize that you"Do not need to eat meat to live".I will never eat meat again.I do not drink real milk.I drink soy and I do not eat eggs for that fact.Vegetarian has it's positive point's.Just try it for a week. You will see the difference. For the better.

For 20 years I have been a vegetarian. We eat cheese and eggs but do not drink milk. We occasionally toy with the idea of going vegan, but it never lasts. I cook almost everything from scratch, buy organic, and enjoy GREAT health.

Why? I read "Diet For a New America" 20 years ago and became an instant vegetarian. I cannot abide the thought of cruelty to animals and factory farming is hideous.

I have never regretted my decision and love all the fabulous foods available without eating meat.

And, for one of the other writers, there is protein in every type of food both animal AND vegetable. That goes beyond tofu and soy.

I am a vegetarian that does not eat meat, that includes anything meat flavored or anything made with animal products like Jello. I try to stay away from dairy. . . .I choose the lifestyle that i do because of the way animals are treated. It is disgusting and revolting how other human beings can be so cruel and inhumane towards other living creatures, (im talking about the meat industry) its not quick and painless like you think.

I try to stay away from products and any products that come from companies that test on animals. . . .. There are still so many companies that do :( Its a daily effort, but i feel better physically and mentally for my choices!

Animals are ALL beautiful creatures. . .. and should have our respect. I try to give them a voice, because they cannot speak for themselves.

Thanks :)

I guess I qualify as flexi. I haven't eaten meat in two months. I object less to the taking of life for food (I believe that's a part of nature) than I do to the mass-production of sentient beings for consumption. (I have ethical and practical reasons for this.)

If I eat meat while I'm in the states, it's naturally- and pasture-raised. When I'm traveling (which I do a lot), I'm a lot more flexible. This is partly for practical reasons (I don't speak every other language on the plant and not everyone on the planet speaks mine) and partly because I enjoy experiencing a culture to the fullest. I think food is an important part of any personal or national culture.

I don't like being called a vegetarian...I usually just say I don't eat meat....Vegetarian for some reason has such a bad stigma....I don't eat flesh of animals becuase I feel it is healthier for you. I also don't believe God put animals on this planet to be abused....We are not supposed to abuse God's creation. I think the meat industry is trying to kill us the way the raise the livestock. I feel we don't have to eat meat and maybe we shouldn't....It's not like we are starving and have to eat whatever is available...we have choice and I have chosen to cut meat out of my diet...

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian because it is easiest for me at the moment. Eventually I may become a vegan, but as of now I am satisfied.

i'm an oto-lacto vegetarian, i eat chinese V food.

i can take eggs and dairy products, but not strong favoured veggies like onions, garlic, leek ect.

i think it has bad effects on the intestine, but i'm not really sure.

my parents were also vegetarians before they were married, so i'm a vegetarian by default i guess. my entire immediate family were all vegetarians.

i have no complains, cos i could find stalls/ resturants that cater to vegetarian needs almost everywhere in singapore, including my school.

The kind that still eats eggs and butter, milk, cheese. Why? I don't want to kill anything, my doctor says I should eat some fish and chicken sometimes. As soon as a chicken walks up and says kill me and eat me I will! I can't stand the smell of meat/death.

I'm a vegan. I believe that drinking milk is just as bad as eating meat, because dairy cows are tortured for their whole lives, just like pigs or chickens or any other meat. Besides, egg-laying hens are sold to the meat industry, so are dairy cows. If you eat egg or dairy products, you're supporting the meat industry. Plus being vegan is really healthy too - absolutely NO cholesterol in my diet! People say being vegan is too hard, but it's really not - It's actually really fun discovering new foods! (especially when you know that it helps animals)
