It's called a stent.
Recovery time depends on the method that the stent is introduced to the body. If the stent is donein the cardiac cath lab, recovery time is relatively short. You may be able to leave the hospital the following day.
If the stent is introduced as a part of open heart surgery, recovery time can be six weeks, with full recovery up to a year. This is because open heart surgery requires some drastic measures as far as anaesthetics are concerned.
You should clarify with your doctor what the recovery time is for the procedure you are undergoing.

My mother just 2 weeks ago had her second stent surgery... she had the surgery on MONDAY and was home Tuesday afternoon... it is NOT as brutal as it used to be as they no longer open the heart... they make a small incision in the groin and slide the stent through the vein up to the proper artery in the heart... My mom was out doing light YARD WORK on Thursday and went out on a date with her husband Friday night....NO DANCING though... She is already back to her normal routine and it's been just a day over 2 weeks since her surgery......The FIRST time she had it done was a bit more evasive and she took 2 weeks to RECOVER ....but at that time she was very sick... THIS time when she had the stent put in she was much more healthy....

I think you mean Stent, I have 3, the procedure is painless and usually only an overnight stay in the hospital, recovery is quick a few days, but you can resume almost normal activities as soon as you return home, just don't do anything strenuous, your Dr will advise you on all of that and it will be given to you with your discharge instructions.

Artificial cardiac stents have now a definite place is opening a clogged coronary vessel/s. They are effective BUT precautions must be taken once the stent is placed e.g. regular physical and dietary control of fats etc, otherwise the stent will close again.

a stent is placed in the blocked coronary to open it back up. I take it you had a cath and the incision is in your groin? This is done when you only have a couple of blocked arteries...in place of open heart surgery. Your groin will be sore and black & blue for a while...but you will feel fine in a couple of days. Just take it easy and no heavy lifting or pushing ( this could cause bleeding in the groin).. for at least a couple of weeks....you won't feel anything in your chest....and your groin will heal sooner than you think. Good luck!

If you are refering to a cardiac stent...it is nearly a same day procedure. You will need to take it easy for a week or so...to let the site heal (usually in the groin)...but otherwise...start light exercise as soon as possible (Your doctor will tell you).
Good Luck!
