We are having our annual celebration dinner with my animal rights club. One member now wants to bring champaign to toast our success in the past year converting so many immoral people to become vegans, we are almost 100% sucessful when we get ahold of someone. I think alcohol is immoral and some champaign is not vegan. Should I tell him no?

Well, champagne is vegan. No animal products are used to produce it.

As far as immoral...that's up to you to decide what is immoral or not.

Why not provide sparkling cider in addition to his champagne and let people choose for themselves?

I have a concern about your labeling people according to their dietary habits ("immoral people.") I, myself, have contemplated vegetarianism for ethical reasons, but please lighten up on your judgments. It's nice you are concerned about the welfare of animals, but what about the human animal? Have some compassion for people, too. I know too many vegetarians who would die to save an animal, but think nothing of emotionally maiming another human being. All animals are worthy of our love and respect.

If you think alcohol is immoral, abstain from it. But your animal rights club is about animal rights, right? Not some morality crusade. Let people choose for themselves.

Champaign is a city in Illinois.

Champagne is a sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France.

Your friend probably wants to have sparkling wine, and if he can find a vegan one, why not. Bring a bottle or two of sparkling cider for the teetotalers.

For those who don't know, some wines are clarified with gelatin or egg whites, so Ashley's concerns about vegan wines are actually valid.

Alcohol is immoral? Ask the guy to bring a vegan champagne (see link below). Bring a non-alcoholic beverage such as sparkling juice for yourself and any others that prefer not to have the champagne.

I think you should let him just because you don't agree with alchohol doesn't mean others in the club don't. Just ask him to make sure its vegan. Not being vegan or vegetarian does not make you immoral I am vegetarian and have nothing against meat eaters it is their choice.

THIS IS NOT A REAL POST. This person (“Ashley”) posts comments on here all the time saying horrible things in an attempt to make vegetarians and vegans look bad. Why? I have no idea. But PLEASE don't take this crap seriously. He or she is just trying to cause trouble.

I agree with Me. You need to get drunk and laid maybe then you'll understand that there are better things to do than pretending to be a militant vegan.

Let it be a BYOB (bring your own beverage) party. That way everyone is responsible for what they drink not just the host.

Yes, tell him no, protest his house.

I agree with Trace etc, you really do sound like you need a good ... so you can lighten up...and I mean YOU, not your troll persona.
