That really depends on which church you are talking about. Even among Christian churches, there are different opinions.

In general, people are against STDs (duh!). People stigmatize STD patients as being dirty, promiscuous, stupid, unclean, etc. Not exactly good since a lot of people get STDs for reasons totally beyond their control (partners who didn't know they had infections, partners who cheat, sexual assaults).

Consider the Catholic church. The Pope opposes the use of contraceptives because under their doctrine, all sex should be within the bounds of heterosexual marriage, and used only for the sole purpose of procreation. In theory, this would prevent STDs. However people commit SINS all the time. So in practical use, papal doctrine isn't working.

Protestant churches have different views. While all oppose extramarital sex, protestant beliefs allow the use of condoms and birth control.

Buddhism has a different approach. Many Buddhists view STDs as punishment for bad karma in a previous life, and when they do get infections, they accept it as a bad fate, instead of something that could have been actively avoided.

i think the church is against the use of condoms when having sex mainly because they prevent pregnancy or life from being brought into the world. and to them its a sin to kill a living thing. for that reson i refuse to convert to any religion that is so powerful and yet backwards at the same time.
