I hope you can find SOMETHING in what I have to say, to help you take your first steps in quitting.
So, you thought about the hurt and pain you’re going to cause the people who love you, when you become sick or die? …and you’ve thought about the lives your smoking habits affect, not just the ones who don’t smoke but also the ones who you wont be fit enough to actively take part in? …and you’ve thought about the soaring costs of cigarettes and what you could be doing with the money..? and yet you still smoke?
There are nicotine alternatives to help you step down from your cravings. The government have instigated all these No Smoking policies, not just with the health of non smokers in mind but also it just might encourage a few folk to quit, come the really bad weather. Not many will be happy standing outside in the rain and fog catching pneumonia while they inhale cancerous catalysts.
You can help yourself to an extent by not being around smokers and publicly proclaiming that you want to stop. (no real friend would light up in front of you or offer you a ciggy)
You could also ask your GP for help and.. visit the dentist. Would you want to go through the trepidation of visiting the dentist more than once to have your teeth cleaned AFTER you’ve told everyone you quit?
Apart from all this, think of the benefits of quitting: better health, extra cash, the chance to join in with activities instead of gasping on the sidelines, watching kids grow up, more confidence and respect.
In the end, you have to really want to quit AND make the effort, but you wont be alone, you may even sway others to give up with you. Now that would be some reward.
Cold turkey is usually the best method rather than cutting down 20, 19, 18 etc… gums and patches… all are just reminders of the habit, none of which are sure fire cures….. cold turkey is harsh especially for the first 24 hours….after that, tell yourself you’ve MADE IT and BELIEVE IT.
Good luck, it wont be easy but it certainly will be worth it.

My My Father Smoking He Was Said Iam Sleeping Because i know when tomorrow i wake up and smoking!
He Love Smoking
But 1 Day He Never Smoke... Just By Him Self..

I am sure it isn't for everyone as I have tried to stop a couple of other times cold turkey and couldn't, but the third time was a charm! I was a 2 pack a day smoker. I quit cold turkey after twenty years of smoking. I just simply told several people that I quit and I felt I couldn't go back on my word. It was also a time when I was busy getting ready for a move so I had so much to do physically and mentally that kept me preoccupied. Each time I decided to reach for a cigarette, I told myself, remember, you quit! I also think it helped me to pray to get me through it. The first two weeks were the hardest. Then even after 3 years, I still craved one, but I knew that If I had gone through that long, I was going to be o.k. and if I ever just even had a puff, I knew I would never quit again. I knew this from when I went several months the 2nd time around that I would just start over. Chew on carrots, gum or anything that will subside that craving in the end. My husband still smoked when I quit and believe it or not, it didn't bother me. It was a mind set for me and realizing how much I spent and made my goal that I would spend my money on something nice instead. After having 3 smoking friends who all died of lung cancer including my father in law, my dad who died of a heart attack from smoking, my mom having emphasema, my sister in law and my husband both having had to have the caratoid arteries cleaned out due to smoking, I realize how lucky I was to have quit! My daughter just quit using the patch.
For me it was not going to work with tapering off, it had to be drastic, but the key for me was to keep myself busy or be at a time in my life where it was going to be a big change all the way around and accept it. I now haven't had a cigarette in 17 years. Best wishes!

Just don't light the next one.
I'm on 60 a day currently, but have given up for 3 years previously with ease.
I found Alan Carrs book The Easy Way To Stop Smoking to be a great help.

well it has been 8 years since I quit, I smoked for 25 years about 2 packs a day. I had tried the gum,patches nothing worked so I finally decided I would go cold turkey. My Mom always wanted me to quit and she had passed away so I gave me quitting smoking to her as a birthday present that year. When I felt weak like I was going to give in I prayed for willpower and I would remind myself it was my Mom's present and I knew how disappointed she would be if I took my gift back. I feel so much healthier now. Determination is the key and I wish you the best.

Hello! There is a new patch from Pfizer that can be prescribed by your doctor. I know that willpower is not enough but your question shows you want help. Remember, in the medical community, smoking is considered not only a habit but an addiction. Good luck!

Just throw the sigarette away. I know it is difficult. You get grumpy and just want to yell at everyone but it is worth it. Believe me, I am fever times sick in a year now than I was when I was still smoking.
And ask someone who is smoking also, to try stopping with you. It will help you.

I just went cold turkey, i realised one day when i couldn't catch my breath it was time to quit, plus a girl i liked (and am now dating:) challenged me to stop smoking:) i had no real problems with it, just go cold turkey and hold on the the good bits of not smoking, after 4weeks, food tastes amazing:) good luck

Don't Pick up One.... sorry...I can understand. Yes it is difficult to quit smoking. But you can do it if you really want.
