He was given 24 hours and he was conscious throughout that day and ultimately died on the same day. What would have been the cause. Why was the doctors not treating him? They were expecting something to block his heart after 24 hours and they were unable to prevent it? I am still unable to understand the cause of his death. Please someone enlighten me.

Any type of blockage in the arteries can cause an otherwise seemingly healthy person to complain of chest pain and die. CAD (coronary artery disease) can go undetected for many years and if the warning signs are ignored (blame it on heart burn, etc) then there isn't anything that can be done once the damage has occurred. It's hard to say without knowing all the details what happened. Did they take him to have the heart cath (procedure where they go in and inject dye to see where the blockage is then put in stints or even do bypass surgery depending on the severity of the blocks)? Did they have him on any medications while he was there to thin the blood? There are so many risk factors that can cause delay in procedures like obesity, smoking, drug use, etc. I'm really sorry for your loss!

It sounds like it was a type of clot....most likely a pulmonary embolism or a coronary artery block.
The doctors probably were treating him, you just didnt know it. Im sure he had an IV running with blood thinners and other anti-clotting medications.
Unfortunately once a pulmonary embolism is noticed, it usually cannot be treated.
Sorry about your loss.
