I personally don't like turnips, but the family went shopping and bought them instead of turnips . . . I wanted to make sure they're basically the same thing before Turkey-day!

They are one particular type of turnip;-} there are many.

They are not the same but you can use them pretty much the same way. Rutabagas are a little yellower so will look different, but they taste similar.

I think they are the same as swedes - try them mashed with carrots, loads of butter and black pepper then put them in the oven till they smell sweet

No, but they are similar. we have rutabages every year for thanksgiving. we peel them, cut them up like you would a potatoe, and cook them until soft. them mash them with some butter and brown sugar. they are good!
