My girlfriend recently thought she had an STD and that she may have passed it on to me. When talking to her about it she said she thinks she might have got it from her boyfriend before me. That was about 2 years ago. Is it possible she would have it still and have only just noticed?
I'm starting to think she has slept with someone else.
I found out she has been lying to me a lot lately about small things. I have asked her if shes been with another but can not trust her answer considering i know for a fact she is lying about other things.
what do i do?
(sorry kinda two questions in one)

It's very possible to have an STD for years before knowing it. Syphilis is one such that does much of its long term damage by being in the system for a long time before being diagnosed and cured. If you think your girlfriend is cheating on you however, you should talk to her about it.

Depends on the STD. For example Genital warts don't necessarily manifest (if at all) for years.

Some people only carry the virus and it is apparently true that a very high percentage of the population have the virus and that it never shows itself or passes on.

What did she have/think she had?

I can't answer whether she is telling the truth but if she is suddenly lying about things and she didn't use to, then I'd say my gut reaction is, she probably is about this too.

Peoples actions and behaviour generally don't change in this way unless there is a reason and quite often cheating on a partner has a snowball effect and they end up lying about much more than necessary, to cover tracks.

Have you tried asking her whether she has? Do you have any reason to think she has? Has she been unavailable? Has any other behaviour changed?

I hope she hasn't done the dirty on you, good luck.

Lots of STD's dont have any symptoms at all especially in women, and if they do have symptoms there are lots of other things women can confuse them with (like thrush.) Also you can't get rid of std's without antibiotics. Don't forget that unless you always used condoms with every previous partner it could well be you that gave her the std.

Whether she has slept with someone else or not, it sounds like the trust has gone which spells the end for most relationships.

Right first of all stop sleep with her!....find out what std she thinks she may have given u!......and get urself down to the clinic (i know it sounds daunting) You have to protect urself cause at the moment no else is. Within 6 months u would have had an outbreak of gental woarts or herpes these are treatable but not cureable, clamydia and gonerria (spelt wrong i know) are dorment stds which could go unnoticed for that long as sometimes u dont have symptoms can be cured but can make u infertile male and female. syphillis has 3 stages it is curable but only if it is caught b4 the 3rd stage begins. Im sure she doesnt want to put u in this situation as we are all human who can make mistakes but its importan u get this sorted as her lying could cost u ur life or at the very least make ur life uncomfortable!!!!

Some STD's can go undetected for years. Some you can have for life. There is the possibility that you gave it to her if you have had a previous partner and have not been tested. Get down to the STD clinic, the staff are friendly and they will be able to give you all the information you need.

the only thing I can think of that starts with a "P" in STD's is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. But it's not really an STD. It's a serious infection caused by an STD. and it's also caused by things that aren't STD related, like bacterial vaginosis and an IUD insertion. that's all I know that starts with a "p." lol!

well the bad news is some can be dormate for up to 10 years. Sorry. Some people can get a STD and not have any signs or symptoms and just be a carrier. But for your safety kick her to the curve.

1. You should get tested
2. Have a long talk with your girl friend about your relationship with her (make or break)
3. It depends on the STD, if she didn't get treated for it she could still have it.

STDs can persist for years, syphilis, the old classic goes through up to 4 phases, primary, secondary tertiary and neurosyphylis, previously known as GPI or general paralysis of the insane!

Chlamydia can be present for years producing few symptoms and of course the slow viruses including HIV and hepatitis C can also be present for many years.

Second question, can your girlfriend be trusted? We can't really answer that one!
