hi,
i am a doctor..
high sugar or cholesterol or sugar does not cause nose bleeds directly..
however co-existing high blood pressure may cause nose bleed suddenly.
if this nosebleeding wasn't triggerd by trauma to nose or powerful sneezing, then the probability is that it is due to high blood pressure.
it is very advisable to check his blood pressure..

You might be interested in these two books; they should help your husband's issues- sure helped mine!
"The Paleolithic Prescription"
"The Naturopathic Diet"

I found both in the library. My cholesterol came down from dangerously high to normal ratios, I dropped 30 pounds, and my blood sugar levelled off. The idea is to eat in the manner in which we evolved over millions of years, not based on modern agriculture. The standard Western diet continually spikes your insulin, leads to high cholesterol, etc etc.

Saturated fat is the main dietary cause of high blood cholesterol. Saturated fat is found mostly in foods from animals and some plants. Foods from animals include beef, beef fat, veal, lamb, pork, lard, poultry fat, butter, cream, milk, cheeses and other dairy products made from whole and 2 percent milk. All of these foods also contain dietary cholesterol. Foods from plants that contain saturated fat include coconut, coconut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil (often called tropical oils), and cocoa butter.
High cholesterol causes high blood pressure. The best thing for high cholesterol is Losing weight. A plant-based diet in conjunction with a properly conducted fast most often leads to a total recovery or a vast improvement in hypertension and angina.
