I am a former chef and use a technique taught to me by the famous TV cook Graham Kerr, the Galloping Gourmet, what you do is break up your chocolate into small pieces or if in pieces just put it is a sauce pan, and pour boiling water over it, let it sit, and the slowly dump off the water and in the bottom of the pan is the melted chocolate.

If you not careful you can scorch the chocolate, even a double boiler if to hot can change the structure, but it is up to you my way as told to me by Mr Kerr is fool proof and safe and is not going to take as long or be a problem if yo make a mistake.

Place it in a small container and put that in a larger container of water (make sure both are microwave safe). This way, you get even heating and reduce the risk of scorching the chocolate.

The same as a double boiler, but you're not using metal in this case.

you chop the chocolate up into small chunks, put it in a mug. then put it into the mircowave for like 30 seconds, take it out, stir it. then put it into the mircowave for like 15 more seconds (depending on how much chocolate you have to melt)

It sticks to the bowl a bit more in the mircrowave
so i would but it in something that it couldnt stick to
or lubricate the bowl
and put it in for about 20 secs, opening the door every now and then to stir
