Antibiotics won't really help with chest congestion, anyway, unless it's turned into bronchitis. An OTC product that really helps is "Mucinex". I've used it and it's saved me a trip to the doctor. Also, drink as many fluids as you can which will help to break up the congestion. If you have a fever or other flu symptoms, though, it's best to go to the doctor. Good luck.

Rub VICKS VAPO RUB on your chest at night . This way you breathe in the menthol for 8 or so hours while you sleep.

I have used it for a lifetime and it works quite well to loosen the congestion. Hot showers are good and hot CLEAR
liquids. NO DAIRY it thickens the congestion.

Steam. A hot shower, or put your face over a pot of boiling hot water. Mint and eucalyptus help too. Get eucalyptus extract and put it in the pot of hot water, then put a towel over your head and the pot. Antibiotics are bad. Only use them when you have to.

drink plenty of water. water is a natural expectorant. you can use a humidifier or go sit in a shower with lots of steam. you can go to your doc and get albuterol inhailer or nebulizer. you can take muccinex. you can take cough medicine, like robitussin.
